Quick question concerning Communism, Socialism, Oligarchy, and Capitalism

Hey Everyone!
So I'm doing a speech for one of my classes in which I have to link Communism, Socialism, Capitalism, Oligarchy, Wages, Freedom, Myself, Karl Marx, and Adam Smith. I know a lot of stuff huh! But anyways, I've linked Wages, Freedom, and myself so far but I am a little stuck on the others and was wondering if anyone could help, couldn't an Oliagrchy be considered Communistic? Of course Marx is considered "The Father of Communism" and Smith was a beliver in Capitalism, which is our current economic system. It's possible for our system to go from Capitalistic to Socialistic, but is it possible for us to jump from Capitalism to Communism? Any thoughts would help and are much appreciated!

What way are we trying to link them? Common origins, six degrees, etc?

APCTOOL91 04-13-2010 09:34 PM

I guess a six degrees kind of way

Its pretty much how do they all relate to me

I don't know if I'm doing this right... but they all connect to you through the U.S. Government you're a citizen of.

You are a citizen of a Government who's economy is based on Capitalism. One which waged wars against Communism. One who's citizens fear Socialism. One in which Oligarchy still exists inside it's private corporations. One in which a decent wage is made possible by the labor unions formed there. One which prides itself on freedom.

I don't know.

Not ... by anyone who's a communist, or with an understanding of the meaning of oligarchy. I mean, Yeltsin installed an oligarchy after the USSR collapsed. But America, being a capitalist country is far closer to a subversive oligarchy than a true communism would ever be.

I think you need to figure out what you want your speech to be. Simply sitting down and saying "link all these together" isn't going to get something very coherent. How long does it have to be?

It has to be 5-7 minutes long and linking them together is what our teacher wants

Barnard17 04-13-2010 10:54 PM

Yes, but what does your teacher mean by "linking". In what way do they want the terms "linked"?

How they all relate to me

Sometime it is good to visualize something so you can understand it.

I hope this chart can help you out.
