Detroit (sort of) won.

Detroit had a mayor a little while back name Kwame Kilpatrick. He held (almost) two terms in the city. In that time he abused his position and used city and state money on vacations and cars, not only for himself, but for his wife and mistress. After he was forced to resign, he ran off to Texas. He was court ordered to pay the city back the money. He didn't so he was sent to prison.

Ha-Ha

And to read more about Kwame, here is the wikipedia on it.

So Detroit sort-of won. It's still on ongoing battle. I mean, we still don't have the money.

This is a guy that claimed Detroit was beautiful and promised to fix up the abandoned buildings. Then he didn't, but said in press statements that he did, but in reality there were more than ever! And it's set off an "urban sprawl" which kinda looks like this:

And that is causing even MORE abandoned buildings in the city, and an increased population in the suburbs.

Kwame didn't kill Detroit on his own though. Our Governor hasn't helped our outstanding unemployment numbers at all, and even that isn't all her fault, metro Detroit relied on the auto companies here in the US and when the "Big 3" went under, so did a lot of it's employees, including myself and my mother and father. They both worked for GM and I worked for a company that sold parts to GM. But if you see something happen and don't do anything about it, you have some of the blame.

I think Kwame deserves more than 18 months-5 years, and it should be in more than a level 1 prison. And we want our money!
