This thread is great. I love it when people feel the need to get on their soapbox and rant about how other people live their lives. Well you can get down from your soapbox and shove it up your ass because I'm going to continue to have healthy relationships with men and women. If you don't like that, sorry. No-one cares.

Salami 12-23-2011 07:17 AM

Well done for saying that. Like it or not, the people who hate homosexuality can complain all they wish but there's nothing they can do to actually change someone's lifestyle, especially by insulting them. I never worked out why people have so much hatred for something that does not effect them in any way whatsoever.

I think this is what they were ranting against.

Most homophobes secretly want it up there anyway.

Oh dear, you make me chuckle sometimes, manky.

Rubato 12-23-2011 08:53 AM

Should we not be more worried about the problems with homophobes? they're the stubborn man children that need to be held by the hand and dragged into the 21st century.

Salami 12-23-2011 09:02 AM

Not when things like this are still being said on this very forum:

No, that's a genuine quote, click on the blue arrow to see the whole awful post.

Rubato 12-23-2011 09:31 AM

unproductive trumps counterproductive :/

but that's my point, if you want to exclude a group from society you need a damn good reason, it's not homosexuals that need to make a defense, it's those that feel they should appose it, so where does the problem really lie?

Actually, just re-read that: yes, definitely, the problem is clearly with the people who can't tolerate something which has no bearing on their own lives.

Lighten up, fellas. He's just sharing an experience he had with a black woman. I don't think it was intended as a derogatory remark towards black people. He just simply mentioned that she was black.

Being black isn't relevant though

SIRIUSB 12-23-2011 10:26 AM

I'm pretty sure I was commenting on the "once you go black you never go back' statement . . . because in my experience I never went back, it was not a good experience.

But you guys can twist it anyway you see fit LOL!

Paedantic Basterd 12-23-2011 10:29 AM

The point everyone is making is that none of the unfortunate events or experiences you had were related to the colour of the woman's skin. You could easily have tread the same path with a white, latino, or asian woman.

Rubato 12-23-2011 10:47 AM

He was countering one racial statement with another, I think the humor got lost in translation.

Ska Lagos Jew Sun Ra 12-23-2011 10:48 AM

I think most napalm victims very well confirm the phrase "Once you go black, you never go back".

But that wouldn't work with the racial slogan "once you black, you never go back", now would it?

Urban Hat€monger ? 12-23-2011 11:12 AM

Last I checked this thread wasn't about racism.
Can we drop this now and get back on topic please.

This would be much more convincing if you hadn't previously said:

I'm transgendered, and in several states I can get fired for being so, and I wouldn't be able to do a damn thing about it. I live in UK, but it doesn't make much difference. It's very difficult for me to hold customer service jobs because of this. Of course they'd never actually say it's because of me being transgendered. They disguise it with other bullshit reasons.

So they can blow it out their ass.

I don't see what problem complaining about the treatment transgendered people have and being unable to find a job has to supporting homosexual rights?

I think both points are reasonable.

blastingas10 12-23-2011 01:10 PM

The "once you go black" thing was just a joke. Even though what Siriusb said may be true, I think he just said it for humorous purposes. No harm intended. Don't take it so seriously

Salami 12-23-2011 01:38 PM

Just to make sure we are all agreed on this, does everyone here accept that homosexuality is something over which one has no conscious control, and it's just the way you are born?

Mykonos 12-23-2011 01:52 PM

I'm actually starting to think that homosexuality is a form of evolution. Yep, I mean that.

Interesting! Can you elaborate? I'd be interested. Surely it wouldn't technically have any advantage as offspring cannot be produced.

Obviously, I don't care about offspring, I care about whether or not two people love each other, but I'm unsure about how it is evolutionary.

Mykonos 12-23-2011 02:03 PM

Well, I'm no biologist and even when I was studying it I sucked at evolution, so I couldn't explain it properly, but it's one of those minor theories that some insignificant expert put forward. Basically the argument is that if it is genetic, it could be a mutation instigated by modern challenges such as overpopulation. I'm not sure if it was actually a scientifically accurate theory (I can't recall if evolution can be ignited by social issues or not), but if it is I would possibly look into it a bit further.

Goofle 12-23-2011 02:07 PM

I wish I was gay so I could cool it out in this thread and not go freaky mental.

Mykonos 12-23-2011 02:13 PM

You should be able to flip out over homophobia just as much as anyone else regardless or whether you're actually gay or not. The same way that I won't put up with racism or sexism even though I'm a white male that rarely gets it directed at him.

Racist jokes are never funny and racism should be taken seriously.

Are you actually trying to say that Above doesn't have a right to say that she's persecuted, as a gender minority? Loooool. And honestly, I hope you don't actually disagree, that religious people (who, in the US especially, are the majority) aren't oppressed. That's just laughable. Christians are the least oppressed peoples there are.

Although I don't like to take offence at insults not directed at me, I still get annoyed when someone makes a racist comment.

I would think it is an aspect of natural selection, and a genetic disposition. Like any meme, the necessity of procreation is not a deciding factor in which way the meme develops.

Goofle 12-23-2011 02:27 PM

Above, you are racistist, that invalidates everything you say... :shycouch:

If you don't mind, I'm going to steal that and use it whenever a Daily Mail nut speaks to me.

Should people carrying a prejudice have their opinions excluded? If they have no justifiable reason for that prejudice, I think so. Moral relativism aside, it's been well-established by now that there's no actual logical justification behind racism, so I think yes, racists don't carry any validity if they're trying to argue why they are how they are.

blastingas10 12-23-2011 03:31 PM

Maybe some day we will evolve into creatures capable of asexual reproduction.

I wouldn't want that, no. Maybe we could **** science over and become like the Asari from Mass Effect. Forget all that tiring physical stuff, just have mind sex with people.

Bigots can say whatever they like. I'll just laugh along with everyone else at how pathetic they are, then be on my merry way.

That would be ironic for sure, since if one accepts evolution & natural selection, we took all this time & effort to evolve 'away' from single celled asexual organisms.

Not to mention, I wouldn't want to have 50 kids at the age of 13.

Mykonos 12-23-2011 06:03 PM

50 kids who would all be exact copies of yourself. Asexuality might not be th best thing to aim for.

Ska Lagos Jew Sun Ra 12-23-2011 06:24 PM

Christ, When they turn 13 they'll have 250 kids...
