I found some support groups online, but nothing that I really wanted to take part in. This stuff is really hard to deal with mentally. I heard other peoples' stories which were very similar to mine. It's hard for me to believe that it happened to me, so it's even harder to believe others you know. If you open yourself up and share your story you risk ridicule and defamation, so I rarely even speak of it.

And you don't know if other people are wanting you to open up to them just for sh*ts and giggles, writing you off as a nutjob. Or if they are making their story up for attention, or are just plain lying. I think that with the history of the subject and the vilification from the media, anyone speaking out publicly would most likely be discredited and made out to be a mad man.

My own family didn't believe me or my wife, so I shouldn't expect complete strangers to.

well hopefully you'll live long enough to say "i ****ing told you!" to everybody when and if they reveal themselves :)

Just for the record, I don't think you're nuts nor am I laughing at you.

I just don't have the evidence required for a rational person to accept your story.

Well, I'd read every word of your story and I don't judge you. If someone offers a different explanation to what happen you should take it into consideration too, and I think the fact you can open up like that and tell your story can help you in some ways in dealing with your situation.

I believe that intelligent life exists on other planets. There are too a many alien sightings and close encounters for it to be untrue but there needs to be a support system and money towards the scientists trying to learn more. The American government has covered up too much. Will the truth ever be admitted?

Rational?...is it rational to believe that in a universe as big a ours that we are the only form of intelligent beings out there? Sounds irrational and close minded to me. To believe we are the only ones is irrational and illogical if you ask me. That is just my opinion.

I dont think they were saying it was irrational to believe in aliens, just that it was irrational to take their story as evidence enough to believe.

I don't believe the american govt will admit because first of all they will have to admit they have been lying and second a whole lot of people and sciences will have to admit they are wrong. It would mean for these beings to travel across the galaxy can either live forever or travel faster than the speed of light which science says isn't possible, or traveling thru "wormholes" which science says isn't possible either. So if they were to admit it a whole lot of people will look pretty stupid.

Wait, your belief in intelligent, extra-terrestrial life is based on "alien sightings" and the assumption that the U.S. government is covering up some big secret?

Please explain this.
