Tornadozzzeee

So New Zealand doesn't really get many tornadoes but today one hit in Auckland (close to where I am) and killed 2 people so far and injured 22. Pretty intense! But then again Kansas and other American states have had 100s of them lately so hope everyone is getting though this okay over there! It's pretty effin scary.

My blog has the report:

No but in all seriousness folks, there's so many goddamn tornadoes. Mother Nature, cut it out. Stop killing us and stuff.

I was woken up from my post-schoolday hibernation by tornado sirens today. I didn't even get out of bed. :yeah:

A lot of people think that we don't get many tornadoes in Canada, but in fact after the US, we get the most tornadoes out of any other country. Especially in Southern Ontario (where I live) and in the midwest prairies. There were a couple of F2 or F3 tornadoes close to here last week. Somebody died :(

I also worked at a summer camp a few years ago and we had bi-weekly tornado drills. There were also 6 watches and 3 warnings during the 8 weeks I was there over the summer.

Tornados are relativelly easy to prepare for; go the lowest point in your building, and at said point find the place surrounded by the most walls.

This is the mentality held be the vast majority of those southerners who died in this recent spat of tornados. Got to love suburban ignorance!

natural disasters in general scare the **** outta me. Luckily I'm in PA, which is probably the safest state in the country in terms of avoiding natural disasters.

300 something dead from these things just North of me.

It's hard to take seriously when they set off the alarms probably 10-12 times a year yet there hasn't been an actual tornado touchdown in my county in years.

Yeah we hardly get anything. But my dad's house was REALLY close to getting hit by the Cherry Valley tornado. He lives IN Cherry Valley, so he was lucky. It ended up directly hitting a farm and ruining their house, their equipment, their barn, their silos, etc.
