Because you obviously don't understand the psychological aspect of what it takes to even be a cop. Have you ever gone into work and had to hear over and over again that a child died because of your screw up? Have you ever had to walk into work and know that someone's death was your fault? And I'm not defending cops, there are some that are corrupt, but that doesn't mean they're all corrupt.

A cop has to do whatever is necessary to stop the crime from progressing. And if that means shooting them down, so be it. Also, when's the last time you heard of a while male being shot by a cop? Almost never. People will pull the race card whenever necessary.
