If you choose to be gay, you would have to grow up knowing you were straight, and slowly ween yourself onto penis. Makes no sense.

First of all, am I asking someone to take something more seriously than the APA? What is the APA?

Secondly, it's relevant because they're interviewing lead scientists in the field who talk about homosexuality and the scientific discoveries made on what causes homosexuality. That information is pretty much spot on the topic here and what they say is completely contradictory to what Forward to Death stated in his or her post.

I realize it's not cool to ask someone to watch a video which contains your argument so I'd be happy to reiterate the points they make.

The American Psychological Association, which is currently the world's largest scientific organization of psychologists, is composed of around 120,000 educators, clinicians, scientists, students, and of course psychologists.

My problem with it is when they flat out rule the environment (as in, non-fetal) as being non-influential. That seems contradictory to what the APA says, which I posted a bit below your videos.

I assume they have a good reason to do that and probably know more about the subject than any of us here. Not saying you shouldn't be sceptical, but I'm more sceptical towards random people on a forum than I am towards these scientists interviewed on 60 minutes.

Psychology is a type of science... I think you mean biology.

Yeah, I'd say you're born neither, I think you kind of develop your own feelings, and you know what you want eventually in life.

Like, the testosterone thing doesn't even really work out because I know some totally manly gay guys who you'd never guess were gay. I know some flamers who are totally straight as can be as well who kind of act almost feminine. I just don't think you're born either way, you just develop based on what you see, and I guess you can sort of want to be gay, and you end up gay or whatever.

Proof? Where's this study, and did every person in this scenario turn out to be gay? It sounds like an enormous stretch.

Ignorance is refusing to change your stance regardless of whatever evidence or logic suggests. I've never seen this study, can't be bothered to look up your research for you, and have my doubts on the legitimacy of this study. For all I know at this point, you're talking out of your ass.

I'm making points about what I know to be fact, and that's that I've known people who've changed teams or become bisexual in their 30s even. I'm making logical assessments of what I know, if you're not a science, and you're just talking about a study that you have no idea of the elements of research and data, then you should stop blowing smoke up my ass with this snide, pretentious pseudo-insight.

School's out.

And I thought I'd just clear this up, but I'm not set in my ways, this is what I think, I don't pretend to know that people are/aren't born homosexual.

But seriously, 60 minutes is your evidence? Really?

I'm pretty sure I've said this before, but I'm bisexual. I'm not ignorant towards it in any way, but I'm 99% sure it was my choice to be bisexual, and it just kind of irks me that people actually want to tell me that because I also like women that it's basically a birth defect or something. I made the choice, not genetics.

So you're basically claiming that at any point, you can turn off your sexual attraction towards either men or women and that you can choose to not get aroused by a beautiful man or woman naked? Because that would imply choice, and I don't buy it for a second.
