Todd Akin 'legitimate rape' and pregnancy comment controversy - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The point of this thread is what are the Republican's problem with women and reproduction? Why in this day and age do we still have idiots like this on the conservative party?

Another interesting article.

Personally I would not have an abortion but I accept it is a right for a woman to do so if she chooses. Making a woman have a medically unnecessary ultrasound and be made to hear the baby's heartbeat is emotional torture and is not an appropriate way to make a political point.

Quote:

Georgia legislators passed HB 954, a "fetal pain bill" criminalizing abortions performed after the 20th week of pregnancy. The bill, which does not contain exemptions for rape or incest, has been referred to as the "women as livestock bill"
Quote:

A Kansas bill passed March 2012 requires doctors to warn women seeking abortions that they are linked to breast cancer,[67] a claim that has been refuted by the medical community.

Because Mitt Romney.

Because conservatives.

Conservative people just love to keep things old-fashioned, y'know. Back in the good ol' days when women had just about as much rights as your dog and war was seen as a good thing.

Thus, live by the rule: "If it's conservative, it's bullcrap."

I would respect the Republican party so much if just someone big from that party were to publicly shame this asshole.

A few people have including, of all people, Karl Rove. But I still don't respect the Republican party.

It's hard to know what is going on in the minds of these people. They're politicians so one would think they'd have some small modicum of reason and intelligence that would prevent them from saying such STUPID things in public, especially in the Media frenzied world we live in today. Instead, it's like they are lining up to make asses of themselves.

I don't think it's a conservative or liberal thing. I think we have created a societal model where mediocrity thrives, and so we are plagued with leaders who are scared, uninspired or just groveling and insipid. Just because you're good at making money, it doesn't mean you're smart.

I'm a big believer that mankind either needs to evolve or die, but unfortunately, we seem determined to hold ourselves back. We get the leadership we deserve.

Maybe this recent spate of attacks will piss women off so much that the Great Goddess will finally re-emerge. To quote Ivor Cutler: Women of the world, take over. Because if you don't, the world will come to an end, and it won't be long.

For the people who have, they have my respect, but until M. Money and his bro running partner publicly state that this man has absolutely no right to call himself a Republican, then I can't help but associate that kind of mentality with the party as a whole, even if a majority of the normal republicans would say otherwise.

This pretty much applies to any types of ideology that find extremists in its mists. If you can't publicly disown any other extremists shitheads that crawl into your movement or philosophy, then don't expect me to do the work for you. If you want to call yourself a Christian and not be associated with say... the extreme fringe movements, come together and say that. Same goes for people of the Islamic faith, you don't want to be connected to the jihadists, get together and show the rest of us that the majority of you don't think like this, and then maybe we can get over our own preconceived notions and we can actually move forward as a society, rather than just pigeonhole each other into increasingly narrow guidelines that only further dehumanizes people.

The Republicans have always come off as cartoon bad guys to me. Every time I see **** like this, I am in disbelief that anyone could possibly say/think these things.

Is it rape if she cums? A very perplexing question.

Wouldn't the cumming insinuate that she enjoyed it?
