Proccessed Meats=Cancer& the evils of GMOs

Processed Meats Declared Too Dangerous for Human Consumption

"Processed meats include bacon, sausage, hot dogs, sandwich meat, packaged ham, pepperoni, salami and virtually all red meat used in frozen prepared meals. They are usually manufactured with a carcinogenic ingredient known as sodium nitrite.2 This is used as a color fixer by meat companies to turn packaged meats a bright red color so they look fresh. Unfortunately, sodium nitrite also results in the formation of cancer-causing nitrosamines in the human body. And this leads to a sharp increase in cancer risk for those who eat them."

Yikes! I always try to eat 'clean,' but this is just more motivation to do so. Processed meats are just one small part of the evil food world.

GMOs are pretty scary. Obama and the gov't recently passed legislation to help protect big companies, like Monsanto(the largest pesticide co that creates all our food) that produce gmos. Where are the studies about the effects of gmos on our bodies?

Most people do not even think about where our food comes from. In our fast-paced, hectic lifestyles it's just easier to buy what's readily available and the cheapest. Cost has always been a concern, but when it comes to what I put in my, and my children's, bodies I will pay extra to keep us healthy.

This is NOT my problem, but thanks for sharing to others.

While I'll agree Monsanto and the big Ag companies are doing some pretty shady things, I get really agitated when people freak out of about GMO's. There's absolutely nothing harmful to humans about them. Ecologically, there are potential issues. But as far as eating them...stop worrying.

Wow, eating the flesh of dead animals is bad for you? Who would've guessed...

Even when you put it that way, I could still go for a steak.

And also you putting it that way makes this statement no less wrong. We are omnivores. We eat plants and meat. Meat is good for you. So...eating the flesh of dead animals is NOT bad for you.

I am repulsed by the thought of eating the flesh of dead plants.

I wouldn't go so far as to say meat is good for you, obviously in moderation it isn't too bad for you. However idk if being an omnivore extends to meat that has been cured in pink salt/prague powder, then hung and dried for weeks at a time, then smoked and/or seared.

It's not so much the eating of dead plants that gets me....I mean we do have molars right? So obviously we were designed to eat vegetable flesh....for me it has everything to do with violent way they rip them out of the ground...and the horrendous conditions they are kept in after....I mean could you imagine how horrible it would be to be shoved in a box and packed on ice to be shipped from Argentinia to the US?!...I read an article yesterday which talked about how they use seedlings for scientific research! SEEDLINGS!!!!

Well, that isn't the only way to eat meat...yeah, there are plenty of ways to make it bad for you.

I do plant research, and yes...the regulations and moral dilemmas I am faced with everyday are enough to give me an ulcer. I mean, my research is for the good of mankind, but at WHAT COST?
