should minors be tried as adults?

after reading this story about a few bored teenagers who randomly killed a guy, it made me wonder if minors should be tried as adults. in the usa at least i know those under 18 have been tried as adults for especially heinous crimes. 22 have been executed for crimes they committed as a minor

do u think minors should be tried as adults??

For sure they should. I think getting off because you're under 18 is complete bull****.

If you're capable of killing someone for the sake of ****s and grins, you shouldn't be allowed out into society ever again.

Supposedly there's another tweet where he claims that he knocked out 5 whiteys since the Zimmerman trials.

Zimmerman didn't kill out of racism, he killed out of self-defense. FFS he's not even white.

This story is sad. The kid they murdered, Christopher Lane, was Australian :(

Of course they should be. Here they don't do that though.

Of course they don't do that. You do realize you live in Canada right?

They just give them a stern talking to, some rehab and let them go to continue playing hockey.

Haha yeah. They're in the process of changing this though.

I should answer the question though.

minors should be tried as adults based off of the severity of the crimes they commit.

I agree with how it is done at the moment.

Astronomer 08-23-2013 07:32 AM

I think the fact that they all think it's a big joke and are showing no remorse demonstrates that there is something not quite right in their mental stability, so to speak, and that I would not feel safe with these teens among our society. If they are capable of murdering so carelessly and remorselessly at this age, what is going to change when they are an adult?

I think there are certain situations and crimes where juvenile offenders can be "let off the hook" to some extent and rehabilitated due to their age and the nature of whatever their crime was. But in this case, such a cold murder, where they are showing absolutely no remorse and still think it is a big joke... it's just chilling to think that they would ever be allowed back on the streets if they were tried as anything less than what they are.

EDIT: What dj said about the severity of the crimes.

Paedantic Basterd 08-23-2013 09:16 AM

Definitely. If you're old enough to know it's wrong, then you should be tried as an adult.

EDIT: Severity taken into consideration. I'm not saying we should jail 13 year old kids for stealing t-shirts from stores or vandalizing property.

Well in this case yea, they were like 15 and 16 and they murdered a guy just cause they were bored..

whtvr happened to fappin and videogames? you know, go do THAT don't just go around killing ppl!!
in this case these bored assh*les deserved to tried as adults, murder is not a hobby it's a *****n crime!

i heard of another case were a minor accidentally killed another minor playing wrestling and in that case i don't think he shoulda been tried as an adult but as a teenager who accidentally f*cked up big time

it all depends on the age of the minor and the nature of the crime
