I don't find it offensive. Just confusing. I don't get called black often.

But if I was a black chick, I'd insist people call me 'The mighty negress', saw it in a book once. Pure poetry, slides off the tongue like a spring day in the meadow.

My family and friends who are black all prefer to be called black so it's not something I think of as offensive.

I'm wondering, though, if "black" people don't like being called that, and would rather be called "African-Canadian" or a similar term. And is the term "Negro" any different?

I think Negro sounds more offensive than black and has a more negative connotation to it.

i don't like using african american cause it sounds overly pc, i use black and so far i don't think ive offended anyone doing it.

African American is far less PC than "black" in my opinion.

Is that because they have never been to africa and probably never will?

Also not all black people are from Africa.. I always use black, I don't know any black people who I've ever offended.

You know what I've never understood.. Why can't we call Russians Asian? They're from freakin Asia.

As I always say, using somebody's name is always the best way to go. Or pointing. Pointing always works.
