Giving everyone equal control of a warehouse/shop or any other work environment is a fundamentally stupid idea. Regardless of it completely ignoring the fact that somebody invested into making the company/product in the first place, it's just silly to expect everyone to collectively make decisions that will please everyone equally, and result in an efficient production/service.

I'm not talking about shareholders or any higher level than simply having bosses, supervisors and grunts etc. It makes complete sense to have a hierarchy within a factory/shop floor/any other job that requires delivering products or a service - and for those higher in the pecking order to have more say and get paid more.

I can't even imagine the monumental floods of sh*t that would envelop the streets if you gave everybody an equal say in how McDonalds, bars, shopping centers etc.

F*cking spotty Bryan making a decision on how they should stack the shelves because he's feeling a little lazy today. I'm sure customers would like that.

I am indeed absolutely certain that hierarchy and chain of command would work better than collective ownership and equal say on the running of a company.

Have you ever actually worked for a large corporation? They're no less choked bureaucracies than governments. They hand down often pointless edicts seemingly from bureaucrats trying to justify their positions by making some decision, any decision at all.

I'm not sticking up for upper management and corporations, I frankly don't care that much, but when we are dealing with on the ground customer service, production line and other directly customer-facing operations - do you really think it makes sense to stick everybody collectively in charge?

Do you think every Burger King employee should have equal say in how a burger should be made? And would their decisions on break times, start and finish times, pay etc. result in a stable working condition that ensures customers got the best experience going into the restaurant?

My personal opinion is no, because I've worked with enough lazy ass employees, supervised enough of them and pretty much been forced to work more than necessary to make sure the customer gets what they want. Whilst often getting paid the same (unless supervising) because we already have a system that's rather equity-based as it is.

I would think that the people who make a company function would have the most valuable input on how to run and improve it but that's just me.
