It's a persons right to spend their life with whomever they choose. Service or no service. Because someone prefers the company of the same sex why are we condemning them to a life of loneliness?

oops. I mean jerusalem.
And? The point is that they were around and performing marriages before there was any such thing as Christianity. So according to Christian tradition itself, marriage predates Christianity.

You're kinda scary in an argument. You're like three steps ahead of everybody else.

By the way, the answer is Germany circa 1940.
i see you're getting your history straight from the good book. you might want to explain why pagan cultures like the sumerians also had marriage as a social institution even before any confirmed hebrew texts

Well, we never killed six millions Jews, so take your stereotypes for what they are.

I'm not very familiar with Sumerian culture, though I am familiar with their pantheon of gods which, most of them, demanded sexual intercourse with a woman who is menstruating as worship, so I doubt their definition of marriage was well defined beyond the ability to have sex all the time.

No. This is a specific teaching, not the whole bible. The Torah was already written and kept in the temple of Jerusalem. Before then, it was an oral tradition kept to the letter since first revealed by God.

source?

i honestly don't understand what point that was meant to make, but either way you've officially diverted my attention away from the marriage debate and towards hearing more about these sumerian period-sex rituals
