I've noticed that when a big news event like Ferguson blows up in the media, only the more conservative pundits ask whether or not it was justified. Shouldn't that be the first question on everyone's minds? But when the news pulls up something that could suggest that it was justified for the officer to enforce the law with deadly force, they're often accused of forming a false narrative. When that 'false narrative' is pretty damned compelling, a lot of people prefer to stick their fingers in their ears and stick to the story that they decided was true upon hearing the incomplete facts of the case. These incidents bring up serious issues that do exist, so I think people just cling to that in hopes that it's relevant enough to bring about change.

One thing that people forget about policemen is that they're enforcing the law, and a majority of times they've killed someone on duty (but not all, like with the Garner case), it was because that someone was breaking a law. Not every black man shot by a policeman was an innocent angel, regardless of what Soulflower would have you believe.

The question isn't whether or not they were an innocent angel, it's whether or not they were doing something that warranted them being killed.

It's not there for no reason.
It's there so you only have to scroll up & down to read stuff as opposed to up, down and sideways.

That was what I meant, I guess I just worded it poorly.

I've never implied this.

Wasn't there a space between the "c" and the "l" on one of them? So if you write (that's "clap" with the colon either side and no spaces) you get the smiley but if you write :c lap: you don't?

And the cases that do actually legitimately do happen are splashed all over the news so that it looks like it's Rodney King day all day every day. That aint the case man.

As for Dr King, well I think you are asking the wrong question. If you look at the state of black culture from the 60's til now, you will find quite the down grade from how my grandparents behaved and how the youngsters behave now. And that is SAD. Id ask him how he feels about that! You have people killing each other over 2 sq inches of street. For every action there is a reaction, and the reaction for these actions is **** like this. Black folks cannot blame law enforcement entirely, it takes two to tango and if you are running through a city park shooting in a cross walk don't expect that you don't get blasted. Quite frankly I find myself embarrassed at some of the things black people do, it enrages me. Because if you continue to act like an ******* you can't say **** when someone hollers ******. You are reinforcing a stereotype in the minds of people that already may have a slight leaning to racism. And instead of 'my community' looking to better themselves, and stop these kinds of things from happening, in a manner that would make MLK proud, we behave the opposite way and expect to hang his name on atrocities that he didn't stand for in the first place.
Yeah but I'm talking about what seems to be a shocking litany of incidents of black men getting shot simply because they're black. Guy running away? Pursue. BLACK guy running away? Shoot. Guy jaywalking? Talk to him. BLACK guy jaywalking? Shoot him. Can't be right...

And that isn't right, and you are deluded into thinking it happens like that. **** happens, yes, but not nearly like you are making it sound. I'm not afraid to go get a gallon of milk because a cop is gonna gun me down. I get a little neverous when I see gumballs but that's cause I still do a little dirt. I don't feel like they are gonna shoot me, I feel like they may want to write me a ticket or take me to jail.

What, so just because it happens to a statistically smaller percentage I shouldn't worry about it? Nobody said every black man is getting gunned down, but when the news stories are mounting up, and every single time you hear of one of these incidents it's a black guy getting shot, maybe killed, that surely can't be ignored? Nobody's saying every black guy in the USA is afraid to walk outside his door, just as nobody's saying black guys aren't committing crimes that could put them --- literally --- in the firing line. But it has risen to a level which surely is now unacceptable. How many this year already? And the annoying thing about it is that nobody seems to be trying to defuse, change or address the situation...
