There's a difference... this is thick to me. Still has that hour glass shape, it's just bigger.

weight and health are related though

it's not 'the skinnier the better' or 'the fatter the better' but there is a weight/bmi for each given individual that comes closest to our ideals of health

edit - yet strangely it seems like people who are too skinny are stigmatized as being brainwashed by the media into developing an eating disorder while people who are too fat are given a platter of excuses to choose from

Yeh I agree, but I think a lot of this whole fat shaming dilemma involves people who overlook that fact. Lots of people are within a healthy BMI but smoke a ton or don't take care of their bodies and they are in way worse health then someone who takes care of themselves but is overweight.

Also, the BMI scale is kinda whack. I'm 5'11, anything over 180 for me is considered overweight. That's absurd if you have any sort of muscle mass.

The BMI scale is just a simple height to weight ratio. It doesn't take into account muscle like you said. For instance according to a BMI chart I'm technically overweight for my height. But that's sheer muscle mass and my doctor says I could actually stand to put on some weight.

The body needs some fat. It's a insulator and energy source. Doesn't mean you want to be a walking tub of lard though. Also having too much muscle can be considered unhealthy too. But I'm talking the rock on supped up steroids or something.

How Accurate Is Body Mass Index, or BMI?
yea... it's a flawed calculation...but maybe it's a bit more accurate to say there are health-based principles that could determine a person's general health in terms of size based on the ratios concerning how much fat a person is carrying around vs their general proportions (weight, height, girth, etc)

i definitely think there are muscular men with low body fat who are riddled with health problems

i guess the point is that proportions matter in general
