If you can have a proper discussion on gun control you can find that there are republicans that want to make it harder for people to get guns with out doing an out right gun ban. Plus, people are ****ing people, not all of them are going to think exactly the same and once you realize that you can stop this us vs. them rhetoric that your fiddle players rely on and coming together to compromise on ideas and hopefully start voting for a candidate that can satisfy everybody the best.

Plus, this argument derived from the fact that I said Republicans want moderate gun control. Saying that they support the laws we have now is moderate gun control.

I think a lot of Libertarians are jumping onto the Republican band wagon the same way you neo-Liberals jump on the Democrat band wagon because you feel you can't vote for who you really want and so you vote for the primary that you think best represents you. So that causes confusion when you have a Libertarian like Alex Jones at the Republican convention supporting Trump.

Of course there's people on the right who support gun control. I'm talking about the vast majority though.

Again, of course. I thought we were discussing implementing new laws.

I do not support privatization, deregulation, or giving more control of the economy to private sectors instead of the government (anyone remember 2007-2008)? So don't lump me in with the neo-libs.

And for the 1,546,829th time I usually vote Democrat because they are pro-choice, pro-gun control, pro-separation of church and state, pro-women's rights, pro-environmental control, pro-regulation of banks and wall street, and are most often the more fiscally responsible party.

Alex Jones? Most of the mainstream consider him a true conservative based on the words that come out of his mouth. I think he likes labeling himself a libertarian and federalist because it helps him sell books and promotes his radio show and his conspiracy theories. The dude's an entertainer first and foremost who appeals to anyone who thinks the big bad gubment is behind everything including the Oklahoma City bombing, 9/11, faking the moon landing, and staging the Boston Marathon bombing. Remember how he tried to discredit the kid that had both of his legs blown off by saying he was really a US soldier who'd had both legs amputated years earlier?

Pathetic way to make a living.

And I'm sure the vast majority would be okay with making it harder to get guns with out out right banning guns.

Yes, you brought it up as a response to me saying that Republicans want moderate gun control. I showed you some Republicans that wanted new laws and you moved to they don't support gun bans or to, well the vast majority don't want new laws.

Okay, but a the neo-liberals get lumped in with the Democrats same way Libertarians get lumped in with Republicans.

So you vote Democrat because you are a Democrat. Could have just said that.

Yeah, yeah, Alex Jones is a scam artist, we all know this already.

My god, did you even read the chart? It says nothing about banning guns. It's about who's for or against stricter gun laws. The percentages tell the story. I'm not sure why you keep trying to hang onto your earlier statement that most republicans are for more gun control laws when it's simply not the case.

Frownland 10-28-2016 03:42 PM

I wonder about that poll. The question is "do you favour or oppose passing stricter gun control laws", which could be interpreted by some as "do you favour or oppose Obama coming into your home, personally killing your family, and leaving with all of your guns". Then I guarantee that if you ask those people if known terrorists should be allowed to purchase guns, the majority of those who said that they oppose it would like say that they were against known terrorists buying guns.

Lucem Ferre 10-28-2016 03:43 PM

That chart is so vague that you have to understand that there are plenty of other variables.

Like, when they say stricter gun laws are they really talking about gun bans like you were?

Where was the poll taken? Who took the poll? Is a 3 year old poll an accurate depiction of Republicans today? Is the poll peer reviewed? Which peers reviewed the poll? How do I know the poll wasn't pulled out of somebody's ass?

The Batlord 10-28-2016 03:44 PM

That is one hell of a visually uninteresting graphic.

Beat me to it again.

At this stage I really can't decide if you are all really that thick, or if you're just poking me with sticks to get a rise.

And to answer your question, every year since Obama's been in office the divide widens on partisan issues. Pretty safe to say that a 2016 poll would be even more polarized between the blue and the red.

PRRI

Quote:

While six in ten (60 percent) Americans favor passing stricter gun control laws, there are substantial partisan divisions in views about gun control. Only 31 percent of Tea Party members and 35 percent of Republicans favor passing stricter gun control laws, while roughly two-thirds of each group express opposition to stricter gun laws: 69 percent and 65 percent, respectively. In contrast Democrats overwhelmingly (81 percent) favor stricter laws.

Argument from authority. This says nothing about that poll specifically. If you have the survey methods for the chart you posted, that would be really awesome though.
