Which is why I refered to it as an issue.

There's a reason the saying if everyone was jumping off a bridge would you do it is popular to be said to children. Because children have mob mentality. A perfectly good reasoning to them is, "billy did it too."

And any parent who heeds that reasoning is dumber than their kid.

Well, I got to give you that one.

^^Well to be fair, most parents are dumber than their kid, considering the era most parents grew up in.

That is also true. However, I will repeat myself when I mentioned about ""it being the new cool thing." It's much easier for a child to latch onto something that everybody is doing as opposed to someone who is older that knows better than to follow the crowd. At the same time, I know my wording can seem negative, but if there are a large group of people doing something in their lives, a child that doesn't know any better has more of a tendency to latch onto it.

Right, and as I said, the consequences on the other side are more serious than listening to your kid and hearing them out. It's not as if you go down to the hormone shop that day and get some injections just because the kids brings it up. It can take months to years for hormone therapy to start... because therapists have a serious obligation to make sure it's the right thing to do.

^I'm sorry but the thought of a hormone injection corner shop just made me laugh.

And for months to years people can hide the truth from someone without that individual knowing.

Is it bad that I laughed?

Fwiw, I can tell the difference between when my 6yo is being rebellious and when she has a serious conflict in her head. It's in her face and long term behavior. She's not going to lay in bed for 6 hours pretending she's sick, she doesn't have that kind of patience. When she lays in bed for 6 hours, I know she's not rebelling. When she has a stomach ache and I can see the pain on her face, I know she has a legitimate complaint, etc, etc.
