If we're gonna get mad about Donald Trump Jr., we need to be mad about what happened with the DNC and Ukraine last year. That's collusion with a foreign power too.

Politico - Kiev officials are scrambling to make amends with the president-elect after "quietly working" to boost Clinton.

But also if you read the article you're trying to wave around in another trollish false equivalency it outright tells you what the difference is

It's not a false equivalency: it's a serious precedent to a serious present day problem. Did you even read the second paragraph? You have a political party gunning for power colluding with a foreign nation to "get dirt" on their opposition, and they spent hundreds of thousands of dollars in the process as well. Ukraine aren't Russia, but you can't tell me collusion is acceptable for one party and absolutely unacceptable for somebody else.

Donald Trump Jr. supposedly attempted to collude around the same general time period that this situation with Ukraine occurred. So unless all the top dogs at the DNC are going to go to jail (or worse) for attempting to collude with a foreign power during the 2016 election, what makes Jr. so special? Either all colluders should go to jail or nobody should.

This is the kind of stuff Mueller is going to have to reconcile as he proceeds in this investigation, and the fact it happened at all with zero consequences to the Democratic Party afterward is going to come back and bite any impeachment proceedings in the ass. If Trump goes down, then he goes down. But the double standards need to stop.

Chula Vista 07-11-2017 11:18 PM

Can we focus on today. July 11, 2017. The election is over. Obama is no longer president. Hillary is not president. Stop the deflection.

Hey, Bobby punched Tommy in the face two years ago and broke his teeth, and got away with it.

That absolves Jimmy from punching Teddy in the face today and breaking his teeth.

I'm so sick of this Trump apologist defense.

OJ got away with it so why shouldn't I?

Ant's Trump Recipe:

- 1 Tbsp of ignore the headline.
- 2 Tbsp of deflect the headline as "fake news".
- 10 Cups of finding some way to deflect the news to others.
- 1 tsp of "I didn't vote for Trump".
- 1 tsp of "I don't like Trump".
- 1/2 cup of being uppity and flippant to those who disagree with you.
- 1 cup of "I ended up not being being a fan of Obama after 8 years".
- 1 cup of "Wasn't a fan of Hillary".
- Bake at 2 hours using a lot of diatribe with decent verbiage and serve while hot.

Anteater 07-11-2017 11:33 PM

Double standards much Chulio? Stop the "mental gymnastics". Collusion is either acceptable or it isn't. Jr. attempted to collude before his dad became president right? You only care because his dad won and Hillary lost, even though both of their parties committed similar offenses during the same overall time period to achieve results that would (theoretically) give them leverage.

If someone gets killed and they manage to trace it to a perpetrator years later, that guy is still going to go to jail under most circumstances. "Bobby punched Tommy in the face...and we have proof that he did it". Your treating this whole thing like it happened years ago and isn't relevant even though we're talking less than a year here.

Either way, don't pretend to actually care about this whole collusion situation when you've implicitly accepted that its okay for your own side.

Anteater applying balance to the discussion like dropping 2 pounds of bricks onto one end of a teeter-totter because by god he ain't gonna be fooled into thinking that the one pound of feathers on the other side is heavier.

Ant, are you planning on contributing to this forum in any other way than defending Trump in this singular thread? You disappear for weeks only to resurface every time someone questions your boy.

I dunno mang, you seem pretty mad that Trump colluded better than John Podesta.

Frownland 07-11-2017 11:47 PM

What a bulletproof justification. Solid and wholly necessary post there mr dude.

Meant for Chula but it still applies. Take to PM boys.

Tristan_Geoff 07-11-2017 11:48 PM

And you guys were doing so good :(((

Anteater 07-11-2017 11:50 PM

Well at least I learned today that collusion is fine as long as you get away with it. Woohoo!

How are they supposed to get validation from their peers of they do this privately?

More PMs. I like this thread. Don't ruin it y'all.

Anteater 07-11-2017 11:54 PM

This thread is tons of fun since there's a news article about Trump being published online every 5 minutes or something.

That isn't true. States and local levels don't HAVE to assist ICE agents. ICE agents can still come in and do their own raids but it isn't unconstitutional.

Quote:

Thus the question: Are state and local governments required to help the feds enforce federal law? In a word: No.

The term "sanctuary cities" is not a legal term, but it has been applied by those in government and the media to describe municipalities that offer expanded social services to the undocumented and decline to help the feds find them — including the case of Chicago's offering undocumented immigrants money for legal fees to resist federal deportation. As unwise as these expenditures may be by cities that are essentially bankrupt and rely on federal largesse in order to remain in the black, they are not unlawful. Cities and towns are free to expand the availability of social services however they please, taking into account the local political climate.

Tfw smaller governments making laws that only the federal government can make is inherently unconstitutional.

Except that only applies to states and not local municipalities.

TIL that local governments can ignore the Supremacy Clause*.

Is there an ignore function on this board? I think me and the Ant need to both sign up. I'm beginning to hate the guy.

Post a picture of yourself Ant. I need to know.
