Did you guys hear about Stewart coming back? Am hype

https://www.vulture.com/2021/02/jon-...howrunner.html

Quote:
Jon Stewart’s as-yet untitled show on Apple TV+ just announced three key hires that suggest this latest venture will be a mixture of both comedy and serious journalism. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the series has selected as its showrunner an award-winning investigative journalist, Brinda Adhikari, who has two decades of news experience and an Edward R. Murrow award from her time at CBS Evening News. It does appear Stewart is interested in keeping the show funny, as he also selected a head writer in Chelsea Devantez, whose credits include Comedy Central’s The Opposition With Jordan Klepper and who wrote on the staff of Stewart’s show at HBO that never aired. Lorrie Baranek has also been hired as the executive in charge of production, and she shares a Comedy Central background from her work on The President Show and The Nightly Show With Larry Wilmore.

The show will feature single-topic episodes and a companion podcast, but none of this can happen until they get through the 2,400 (!!) packets the show received for positions on its writing staff. Our thoughts and prayers go out to them.

Too late

Should've stuck around long enough to see Trump get elected and then retired. That brand of comedy was killed by the absurdity that was that the 2016 election. When the actual election coverage was funnier than the satire. RIP

Occasionally I'll put up videos of him during the primaries in 2016 just roasting every other Republican on stage, and if I'm being honest, it's really great to watch Ted Cruz have to applaud at his own dunking.

It's more palatable now that he's gone.

I like to follow Ted Cruz on Twitter just cause every single thing he posts gets dogpiled by people telling him to go **** himself and I like how pointless and petty it is for both sides to just jerk off into the uncaring void over and over again.

One of the best one liners ever delivered on a presidential stage was when Megan Kelly was like Mr trump you call women fat pigs and disgusting... And he cuts her off with "only Rosie o'donnell".

I think Rubio accuses him of hiring illegal labor saying "You're the only one on this stage who has hiring illegal help" Presumably thinking he was talking to Mitt Romney, and Trump goes "I'm the only one on stage who has hired people" and I remember thinking "Does Marco Rubio know which party he's in?

Of course the GOP crowd goes wild.

Lucem, you're right, it's silly to talk about what I would or wouldn't do IRL. Glad you brought it up. Maybe you should write an instrumental about it. I recommend a piano paired with a clarinet. With ambient sounds of you hanging from your shower curtain you ****ing failure.

The technocratic cheerleading might qualify him per Postman

Quote:
Moreover, we have seen enough by now to know that technological changes in our modes of communication are even more ideology-laden than changes in our modes of transportation. Introduce the alphabet to a culture and you change its cognitive habits, its social relations, its notions of community, history and religion. Introduce the printing press with movable type, and you do the same. Introduce speed-of-light transmission of images and you make a cultural revolution. Without a vote. Without polemics. Without guerrilla resistance. Here is ideology, pure if not serene. Here is ideology without words, and all the more powerful for their absence. All that is required to make it stick is a population that devoutly believes in the inevitability of progress. And in this sense, all Americans are Marxists, for we believe nothing if not that history is moving us toward some preordained paradise and that technology is the force behind that movement.
