Everyone agrees that we all fall short of the ideal. It’s just an acknowledgment of the reality. No one singled you out. We could all do more and our greed or the limitations on our generosity or however you want to put it is very unfortunate to those who draw the short end of the stick. Feeling bad about it doesn’t do them a damn bit of good either so from a practical standpoint your take is no more harmful than ours. You say you give something. That’s better than nothing.

Nah I'm a selfish dick for not giving my entire paycheck to charity.

That's not what I meant. When you own an expensive ass car like a Lambo they are really really expensive to maintain. Maybe more expensive than the car.

And there's people that collect that ****. I'm just adding the cost of maintenance on top.

I don't know at what point it's okay. Everything you take advantage of in a first world country most likely comes at the expense and suffering of somebody else. Just living here in America can be interpreted as immoral. But the only reason worth existing at all is to milk as much pleasure and enjoyment from life that you can. So I'm not going to knock somebody that lives in excess. It's just when you do it inconsiderately. Where that line is isn't that clear and we can't just assume every rich person does nothing to help. To really make any significant kind of change to prevent poverty and hunger you do need wealth and the influence that wealth brings. Blanket statements that paint every rich person with a pair of horns doesn't change anything. It just builds a resentment. A hypocritical resentment from people that would do the same thing if they were rich. I'm completely on board with leveling the playing field and holding the evil ****ers that take advantage of poor people like me accountable for their bull****. I'm just not on board with a full out class war.

Arguing always gives me a hankering for schnapps and ABBA.

Yeah. Since you live with your mom I guess you probably could and should. I should work more so I could give. I work just barely enough to cover my bills. My work increases my carbon footprint big time, however. Someone just died that I could’ve saved if Spotify wasn’t more important to me than their existence and suffering. Pretty ridiculous from someone who’s physical record collection is more than I can even listen to.

*shrug* I still pay bills and rent. But I don't want this to get personal so I won't try to amplify it. Apologies. But no you're right, i just don't think it's selfish to enjoy those things.

Good summation.

no "but"

don't try to justify it, just accept it

I accepted it long ago. Just don't feel guilty that I may be putting my happiness over the potential survival of somebody else. That ****'s for the religious.

It's also how I knock self righteous vegans off of their pedestals. **** you Morrissey.
