What kinda worthless rag even considers an old man who wants a blanket and is a thermostat fascist to be news worthy? I ask knowing Psy Fi never defends any of his drive by right wing link drops.

Here's a link that I hope is more relevant to what's been happening around the 2020 election: the ranking of the USA in the World Democracy index:-
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Democracy_Index A lot of facts and figures, but the by-country table is interesting: Canada is a Full Democracy, with a index that has risen to 9.24 over the last decade, making it the fifth most democratic country in the world. The USA is a Flawed Democracy, with an index that has fallen over the last decade to 7.92, making it the 25th country in the world. Given its downward trend, and the current raft of Republican-led proposals to inhibit voting, the prospect for democracy in the US is not good just now. It's already rubbing shoulders with Estonia and Israel (who are ranked joint 27th), and may well drop below them next year if the GOP proposals are passsed into law. Lisna's easy-to-follow law to preserve democracy while you still can: If any party is actively trying to repress or nullify your vote, then vote for the other guy. |
Oh no not the Jews and the Stonies!

They aren't famous for being upholders of democracy; in fact, they're not famous for anything AFAIK. But by 2022, thanks to the GOP, American voters may find themselves looking up with envy at the Stonies. Next year the hapless American voters, with their one drop box per zillion inhabitants and their polling stations open for a full 3 hours only, will be fainting from heat exhaustion as they wait in line to vote. Emergency medical workers will be shot on sight for trying to give voters a bottle of water, and everyone will be thinking, "If only the US could have elections like Estonia!" Thinking back to a pre-Trump era, MB members, with a more musical frame of mind, will probably be humming to themselves an old Dylan song:- "I must have been mad I never knew what I had Until I threw it all away" |
Democracy isn't real. Otherwise, how else can you explain why Nancy Pelosi is in office?
