Well, it’s official. Impeached for incitement of insurrection.

Honestly wasn’t shocked, considering how many Republicans decided to wait until the last minute to speak out against the Trumpery they’d been giving the free pass for four years straight.

(Could’ve invoked that 25th Amendment but nah!)

brave of you to dive into the political threads straight away
but good to hear he's getting impeached, although I'm pessimistic about it having any positive effect. I don't know much about the ins and outs of American politics though, so it's hard to know what to expect

Yeep. Just because he’s out doesn’t mean that the system is going to be entirely free of suck. The suck will just get better at hiding...

Impeached as in the house impeached him. Just like they did last year over the Ukraine ****. Anyone know the odds on the senate actually following through on this? And does it even matter at this point or is it purely a symbolic gesture?

The difference here is that at the trial you'll have all the senators who were in the Capitol, and most of them will want revenge. And as Hawk says, the article of impeachment bars him, if convicted, from running again, and most Republicans would breathe a sigh of relief at that.
