Experts stress vaccine benefits outweigh risks after seven UK deaths

Wow. This is the first time I hear people are actually dying from the Astra zeneca vaccine. Seems pretty flippant to declare that "the benefits still outweigh the risk". I'm definitely not taking anything that has the slightest chance of killing me.

Yeah I don't think you're reading that critically dude. Is there any proof the blood clotting is caused by the vaccine? How many more people get these blood clots than without a vaccine? How high would the chance be that this happened to you? Not taking the vaccine also has a risk of killing you. Also, I bet you've taken meds with much higher side effect risks than this vaccine without worrying

Well, as far as I understand, the AZ is the only one connected with this side effect (and deaths). That I know of. So, I think there's a high chance the two are related.

Also, it may very well be the case I have taken something which statistically could also be equally fatal, but I sure as hell wasn't aware of it. That makes all the difference.

That difference is very unreasonable though. What they're probably saying is that the risks of not being vaccinated are higher than the bloodclotting, even if AZ causes it, which is not known.

Yeah the problem is that those kinds of statements make sense on a government level, but not on a personal level. I don't care so much that it's better for society as a whole to play Russian roulette with the vaccine because it doesn't kill the vast majority of people. You're still voluntarily supposed to inject yourself with something that has a chance of killing you (if we take all of these incidents as directly related).

In theory, a lot of people (myself included) have a high degree of control over their potential exposure to the virus. That kind of makes a difference with some activities I'm doing that are probably statistically equally fatal (like flying, which I can't avoid).

Seriously though, I get your point. If you'd lock yourself in your house it would be valid, but as it is, the risk of getting and spreading covid in a fatal way is probably higher than the vaccine risk, even on a personal level. I'm just saying not to panic about the vaccine unless it becomes clear that it's something to panic about; so far there isn't such a reason.

I'm not panicking, I'm just looking for the best option, since they are available. Not only does the AZ come with a lower proven protection, it's dogged by reports of fatalities. It's not strange that the refusal rates on AZ are so high. People are already skeptical about vaccines, it'll take a whole lotta convincing to get them to take an inferior, potentially fatal option. :/

Also, I don't think I ever advocated for anyone to take a vaccine which could be fatal. I didn't realize they could be fatal until now.

The AZ vaccine isn't the only one that people have reported blood clots after having them. The Pfizer one has a similar rate and there hasn't been any proof of a link between the vaccine and the blood clot.

The contraceptive pill is proven to cause blood clots at a far higher rate and people take that without thinking.

Nothing to see here bros.

Have any deaths been linked to the az vaccine outside of the UK? It being regional tells me there's another factor in the 7 out of 18,100,000 chance of death.

Btw guys don't go outside if you see clouds, you risk dying of a lightning strike.
