A Quick Review

I am sorry guys and gals. Wilco sucks!

What happened to Jeff Tweedy?

Uncle Tupelo is one kick ass band. Was. They were great together.

Jay Farrar at least had some good music with Son Volt. And, solo.

Jeff Tweedy. Hold on.

I checked. I still have not listened two or three times to Sky Blue Sky, so, I may be prematurely ejaculating.

I have one rated at 3 stars, so, I'll post one and listen:)

Never mind. That's my opinion and I am sticking to it. I listened. Sucks.

Here's Tweedy when he did not suck. I wanted 'Train', but, they only had a 'Gun':)

Hope I ruffle feathers with my review. And, I reviewed the whole discography, several times. I really wanted to like Wilco.

BTW Did they have a less than cordial parting of ways? I think I might have read that somewhere. Just curious .

peace

Is this a poem?

I love Wilco!! Seem them last in Montreal this fall, and it was a great show. The sound was just amazing. I discovered that band through a friend from work and the first album I bought was Sky Blue Sky. It's been a few years now and that album still has songs on the top 25 plays of the ipod. Have gotten alot of other albums from them, but somehow that one still remains on top.

I still haven't heard many Wilco songs, but this thread reminded me that I should really listen to one of Jeff Tweedy's albums from start to finish.

I feel Tweedy creates great pensive, instrospective songs, such as "Reservations" and a new one that I just listened to for the first time today: "Please be patient with me." I don't usually like rambling, folksy guitar songs like some of the ones he writes, but maybe his voice gives them enough of a rough edge that I like them:

Wilco - "Please be patient with me"
Light with pleasant rhyming yet a serious intent, this song is one I enjoy off the Sky Blue Sky album, which this thread's starter doesn't appreciate very much. I especially like the room in this video. It looks like a room I'd enjoy being in with its deep red walls, lovely lamp, old-fashioned clock, and window view:

Wilco - "Reservations"
I still don't know which album this song is from (and I don't really care), but I like its meaning and Jeff Tweedy's unrefined voice. He sounds like just a regular person singing and I like that about his music:

Personally I'm a big fan of Yankee Hotel Foxtrot. Sky Blue Sky is another good one.

This was a fantastic thread! I just recently (finally) got my hands on the whole Wilco discography and listened to them in chronological order while reading the reviews. Very impressive. And I have to say that Wilco are such an amazing band....can't believe I've been missing out all this time!!!

Definatly up there in my favorite artists by far. I loved A.M. and Summerteeth. Some of the best lyrics I've heard in such a long time. As much as I love the alternative country genre, I think the mix of some experimental and psychedelic influences in their sound progressively throughout their albums really did it for them. I also really enjoyed some of the longer instrumentals such as "Impossible Germany".

Thank you for some insightful and interesting information on the band's background and albums. The reviews complimented my listening experience :) Now I have to give their latest album a go. I'm very excited.

Wilco is boring. Sorry, just had to say it. I tried to listen to a couple of albums and its just slow and really doesn't do anything for me.

Same thing with Arcade Fire, just slow and I'm all for complex, but they are the boring kind of complex.
