In regard to pronoun use the most accurate information will come from the person in question. "Which pronouns do you prefer" is both inoffensive and sensitive to their needs. Not to mention humanizing. Never, ever use "it."

Yes, and considering that the individual in question once threatened to send pictures of my wife to people on Stormfront, I really couldn't give two shits about learning that individual's pronoun preferences. Anybody else who's not an a-hole, sure, no problem.
