I don't like that much at all. The first album had a couple of top tunes on but this STILL sounds like it's repeating their formula of Intro-build up- usual rhythm. However I think they may be kick ass live and I'm hoping to take my eldest to see them in May for his first gig.

I've seen them live twice, it was the height of my drum and bass career.

Why because I like Pendulum? Are they not good enough for you? They're the biggest international drum and bass act that I've seen live excuse me for living on the other side of the world.

wickedlk 05-23-2010 01:09 PM

Soo Immersion is with us :D What are people's thoughts?

I really like it, there's some variation in there and it's not wall-to-wall DnB. I have played it at every opportunity so far :). Favourite track is Immunize, just can't get enough of it.

Freebase Dali 05-23-2010 04:27 PM

I'm getting sick of all Jump Up because of these guys. :(

Exeggcute :3 05-24-2010 03:29 AM

I really enjoy it. They're seriously plugging the rock / electronic aspects of their music as compared to the drum and bass side, but that's probably the side I prefer anyway. It's not going to be one for the HYC purists, but I'm not really interested in what they have to say.

I think the trick to enjoying the album is not to expect it to be drum and bass. If you appreciate it for what it is, then you'll really enjoy it.

My favourites are Watercolour, Under the Waves, both parts of the Island, Witchcraft and the second part of Encoder. The first half of encoder is very "80s cheese" =/ Special mentions should be made for Immunise, Set Me On Fire and Vulture too :)

jackhammer 05-25-2010 09:22 AM

New album sucks even more than In Silico which I never thought was possible. They are basically a Pop band now and a boring one at that and what the frig is Steven Wilson from Porcupine Tree doing on one of the tracks :(

Scarlett O'Hara 05-27-2010 03:40 AM

I feel like Immersion is missing the drum and bass...

Dom 06-01-2010 04:46 PM

Never been much of a Pendulum fan before but this new album I have to say is awesome - I didn't think I'd like it much either. Best tracks for me are definately "Salt In The Wounds", "The Vulture", "Watercolour", "Witchcraft" and "The Fountain". I was very surprised to see them working with Steve Wilson of Porcupine Tree and In Flames but both those songs are awesome. Overall, probably the only drum & bass album I can listen to from start to finish. Just hearing "The Vulture" makes me want to see them live, that song must be incredible live.

azonicrider188a 06-01-2010 06:18 PM

i agree the new album is very good. Set Me On Fire and The Vulture being highlights.

downwardspiral 06-02-2010 02:03 AM

Pendulum are an abomination to God. I'd sooner drown in a bath full of period blood than listen to their tripe.

Pendulum USED to be great...
One of my fave tracks by them, during those ancient times:

Pendulum - Back To You

Very true, Set Me On Fire is an excellent track. Took me a few listen throughs to notice it by it was well worth it.

I must say the use of imagery in this thread was both "hilarious" and "eye opening." Suddenly this album seems so much ****ter, good job.

Nadia 06-18-2010 08:38 AM

I've always really liked Pendulum, but I haven't heard many of their new songs.

yap'in 06-19-2010 05:46 PM

love' em

Merkaba 08-17-2010 01:15 AM

I borrowed Immersion the other day. Bored mostly however that second part of the island, i think it's called Dusk, is enough to make me wanna line my room with wall to wall speakers and blow my ear drums.

MagicMan 11-11-2010 07:21 PM

I never understood why people are so harsh on Pendulum for trying different kinds of music other than just the straight up DnB of their earlier days. I'm all for a band trying to expand their horizons and try making new kinds of music and exploring new genres. It's like when people started criticizing Ulver when they shifted from Black Metal to Ambient Electronic or when Anathema transitioned from Doom Metal to Progressive Rock. As long as the music is good, it doesn't matter what genre it is to me.

With this in mind, I can fully understand the disappointment for In Silico when that album came out. It was misguidedly approached with a pop and alternative rock vision in mind and the guitar did not fit with the kind of music Pendulum was trying to make. However, Pendulum's new album Immersion has some very outstanding songs and even has some decent Drum and Bass tracks("Salt in the Wounds" and "The Vulture") on it as well. "The Island (Parts 1 and 2)" is a solid dance number, "High on Fire" is an interesting take on dubstep and "Self vs. Self" is a great industrial metal song. Sure there are some weak tracks and 'pop' songs like "Watercolour" but overall, the new album is a great outing for Pendulum IMO.

Goofle 01-13-2017 05:42 AM

I remember these guys. I think I would probably like them more than I did way back in the olden days.

Key 01-13-2017 06:31 PM

I've seen them live. One of the coolest shows i've ever seen.

Inna Selez 01-17-2017 11:46 AM

Pendulum will be a headliners at South West Four festival 2017!

Sonar 01-18-2017 05:16 AM
