Default Four Tet... anyone like?

the solo project from Keiren Hebden from Fridge.. awesome stuff, kind of in the vein of Aphex Twin's ambient parts crossed with Tortoise.

I have Rounds and Pause by Four Tet and both of them are stellar albums...Some of the sweetest beats to be heard...

Default excellent

i agree, four tet is a quality producer, so much energy. passionate electronic manipulation.

personal favourite tracks - smile around the face, high fives, and then patterns, as serious as your life, everything is alright, twenty three, glue of the world, unspoken.

another one of my fav's... i have most of what he's done and seen him 6 times in the last few years. quick rehash:

Dialogue - For fans only really... hard to get into i found
Pause - Excellent. Everyone that likes electrojnica at all should have this - best songs (Twenty Three, You Could Ruin My Day, Untangle)
Rounds- Excellent. Everyone that likes electrojnica at all should have this - best songs (Unspoken, Spirit Fingers, She Moves She, My Angel Rocks Back & forth, As Serious as your life)
Everything Ecstatic - much heavier than previous stuff while not bad, it's not as good as the last 2 albums - best songs (Smile around the Face, Sun Drums and Soil, A Joy, High Fives)

Previous Band Fridge has it's moments if you like Post Rock.... not much similarity to Four Tet

Kieran Hebden & Steve Reid have 2 session CD's out now. I bought the first one and didn't care much for it so will likely pass on the 2nd. It's pretty random glitchy electronica with (I must confess) standard drumming... I'll admit ignorance of this music as some people swear by this, but it's over my head...

Live: Seen Four Tet 6 times in the last few years... mostly at Festis but 2 headline sets and I must say he's progressively gotten more 'weird'. He released a live in Copenhagen Cd that i'd recommend for sure, but recent shows have had most of the audience leave before he finishes... so I know it's not just me.

Oddly enough was at a friends house this last weekend and found out his older brother used to live with Kieron at Uni. Will be milking that connection for an interview or somesuch soon!

The longest song I have on rotation is a live version of As Serious as your Live at over 16 minutes. It's great having your own radio station sometimes as no one else would ever play that

I was about to purchase A Joy since I saw it on LP and it was rather cheap, but then I realized it was just a bunch of different versions of one song. So I bought the new Mission of Burma instead.

Try and get your hands on his compilation for the Late Night Tales series, it's very good. Also he's got one that's just come out on the DJ Kicks series, I've not heard it but if it's anything like LNT then it's bound to be superb.
