would love to discuss BoC. found an old BoC fan site. which i felt people were looking far too deeply into the group's hidden meanings and messages in the songs. but with an record like Geogaddi, it very easy to get the feeling of something sinister under the surface. my favourite album is music has the rigth to children by the way. but i recently got, in a beautiful place in the country, which is amazing/

Just the other day my interest with BoC started when I dug out Twoism EP and listened to that. Now I want everything else, they're that good. The sound is so unique, sounds like a 45 found in a box in the attic.
My Dad wants to know why these Scottish guys chose the name BoC. Please could someone post links to good sites, if they exist?
I know their discography is not huge but track recommendations would rock. Personally I have to say the entire Hi Scores EP is amazing, especially 'Turquoise Hexagon Sun' and 'Nlogax'.

Boards of Canada take their name from a Canadian company that makes educational films to be shown in schools to children. A lot of their song titles pertain to geometry and biology and whatnot. Almost as if the albums themselves are to be used as an educational tool.

Their last EP Trans Canada highway was a bit of a let down. Very good by anyone else's standards but they set a high watermark with their previous albums and EPs, and this is somewhat of a letdown. Too damn short too.

Campfire headcase was a dissapointment for me. I mean, the production is amazing, but musically it is just a bit boring, lacks the sinister, edgy feel of MHTRTC and Geogaddi, and sounds a bit like backing music for something. I do like the one with the crashing cymbals though, (cant remember the name but it might be track 4, left the CD in the car).

I guess my dissapointment has more to do with how much i love some of BoC's previous music.

Trans Canada Highway isn't as good as Twoism or In a Beautiful Place Out In the Country EP's... def worth picking up for Boards fans though..
