That's what I was thinking :p: I used to hate Techno, but I'm starting to come around. I really like a lot of stuff from Jesse Somfay and his latest album is pretty amazing. I like some stuff from Umek as well.

Well, I know the basics ie house, techno, dnb etc etc, I just don't know much when you get into the nitty gritty, ie the latter parts of the education thread :p:

Indeed it did. "Progressive" doesn't even mean anything by itself in regards to music, it's more of an adjective.

Well there's progressive breaks, progressive trance, progressive house, etc... and those are actual genres. But yea, just "progressive" kinda puts someone in a spot if they love progressive breaks but hate progressive trance. I dunno... the poll itself is uninformed. I almost want to close the thread, because there's an exact same thread available, but without a poll, and newer... so it's like... eh... biased moderation.

That's exactly what I was getting at...it's an adjective but means nothing on its own.

I'll be more than happy to make another thread with a bigger variety of genre choices in the poll if that's cool with you and the other mods. That, and I'll make it so you can vote for more than one genre.

There's already another thread like this, just without a poll.

That poll would be pretty epic though. ;)

Minimal Techno, Dub techno, IDM & Glitch for me.

I like the more 4 on the floor danceable stuff but that has an edge of experimentalism to it.

Currently lightening to a lot of Phill Kieran Ben Klock, Tommy Four Seven, Chris Liebing. Oh and you could do worse than checking out the mixes on techno music news & the CLR podcast, those gusy post up some inetersting dark but funky stuff.

I like many electronic dance styles, but schranz is, by far, the best.

I don't think I have a particular favourite. Drum 'n' Bass is probably my least favourite though.

I really love trance great music to get lost in. A very wide variety of artists also not easy to find two of the same trance artists. Unlike some other genre's that should not be best named we know who they are, BWAH WAH WAA WAH WAH WAH WAH WAH WAAAAAA WAHAHAHA WOP WOP WOP

There should be a dubstep. other than that, techno or trance

Trance for the win! Ferry Corsten, Armin van Buuren, and Above & Beyond are 3 of my favorites. I like some Glitch, Dubstep, and Progressive House too but not as much as I like Trance.

Trance for sure. Goa is one of my favorite genres.

Techno, of the ambient variety, for it's essentially IDM and a lot of my favourite electronic artists are often placed within these brackets.

Also, Ambient House, especially the albums being released by the likes of The Orb, Biohazard and the KLF in the early 90s.

And lately have been getting even more into it, especially Minimal Industrial stuff.
