The chemical brothers - We are the night

I just downloaded it yesterday and think it's pretty great. They're easing off on the big beats, on some songs they ever remind me of Cut Copy with the retro synths. I love Battle scars with Willy Mason (he sounds like Johnny Cash doesn't he?), A modern midnight conversation and the title track... Thoughts? |

I have to say that I'm very dissapointed with this. I have listened to it three times and I'm not impressed. While I applaud the slight change in direction. No tracks have really jumped out at me. Chem Bros have always dabbled in ambience and I really like some of their more chilled tracks, but this is almost-WE HAVE RUN OUT OF IDEAS-type scenario.
I will persevere with this though as they are a great band-I may grow to love it. |
I agree it's not as spectacular as Push the button, but I love it just the same.

I'm just listening to it, sounds quite good. The song with Klaxons is a standout for me.
The Salmon Dance! wtf haha |
As an offf-shoot from my earlier post-it's growing..it's growing!

I particularly like how Burst Generator follows into A Modern Midnight Convosation. Both of which are great songs, Burst Generator is like a more dancy version of a Boards of Canada song.
All Rights Reversed with Klaxons is definitely a really catchy song. I hope they use it as the next single, might show them nu ravers how its really done. |
The pills wont help you now with Midlake is stunningly beautiful...took me a while to figure out it was Midlake...
