Is loop-mixed music still Electronica?

A bit of a debate in my own mind is this:

If someone loopmixes the sounds of actual instruments, can it be considered Electronica since it was composed digitally? Or would it fall into some other category because it sounds nothing ike Electronica?

Good question, by copyright law a compilation even if arranged from loops is considered a musical creation as far as related to genre it's the sound that defines the classification more than how it's made. I do stuff that could be classified as Electronica based on how it sounds, I try to do as much "original" work as possible but I don't play drums (yet) and I use midi files alot for that, outsourcing some of the band so to speak, why sacrifice the quality of the album for performance development? I use some loops and also do alot of matrix sequencing, but it's also how you put it together and whether your "fakin for the money" or really trying to express something in sound, I'm doing the latter, money is nice but greed gets you in trouble fast, seen that. Obviously there's alot of faking out there, doesn't seem fair to see someone rollin out crap and takin in bucks, but you can always turn off the player, we deal with a market that abuses talent and overpromotes bizarre, they cookie cut loopers and don't care as much about content, so yeah there needs to be change and a swing towards more real music, but the sound would define genre over the way it made, cheers:)

If you loopmix "fake" instruments in addition to someone actually playing an instrument then I would say no. If its all loopmixing then yes.

But thats just my opinion.

I think it depends on the overall sound of the song. Ive heard plenty of Electronica songs with real instruments in them.

Ya, I agree with seraphina. It depends alot on the sound of the song. Because even real instruments can have that sound to them.

Prime Example: Mixcraft. I reccommend a quick download at acoustica.com. Gives you a few free days trial. I've made several songs out of that just for fun but I was struggling to classify their genre. Thanks for the help.
