Default The Orb

Any fans of the masters of electronic dance infused ambient wizardry? Still going and as fresh as ever. The Orb's Adventures Beyond the Ultraworld still stands as one of their finest albums but every album always has a couple of gems hidden away. Many a fine musician has gracedan album or two including Jah Wobble and Youth.

The Orb was one of my first introductions to Electronica, but it doesn't quite suit my taste today. It is however good stuff.

Mine too. Still remember hearing Little Fluffy Clouds on the bus going to school.
Not to my taste either these days.
To be honest, even their classic stuff sounds dated to me now. The humourous samples don't help, either.
I still recognise how important they were, though.

It's like progressive breaks... without the breaks.

I was at a festival last year and they were the surprise act, after all the other music had stopped, on the saturday night a man made amphetheatre type place!
It was amazing!
I like their first two albums! haven't really listened to much after that

I have the debut (mentioned in Jackhammer's post), but I don't really know it very well yet. It's nice to see it recommended, though .. I like the song from the youtube vid!

What started out as a few exploratory jams has turned into a full release with one Mr David Gilmour . Youth is involved too (Killing Joke bassist/ uber producer). It's out early October.

Cannot wait for this and although it doesn't seem to be hugely experimental, it still sounds right up my street:

New link up. The floyd have sold millions of records yet there is Dave sat there in front of a cooker in the middle of nowhere just chilling and making great music.
