I enjoy Autechre. Sometimes they can be cold and barren, and at other times, they have a fairly warm sound. Get Chiastic Slide.

enemyat_thesix 02-27-2008 10:06 PM

wow i totally did not read the "dark" part.... disregard my list

I love them. went to their show last april i think, it was in toronto.

enemyat_thesix 02-28-2008 08:08 AM

yeah i saw them last semester, and am seeing them again next month with a place to bury strangers. i can't wait

GravitySlips 02-28-2008 09:47 AM

That'll be a good show. I saw Holy F'uck supporting Deerhoof last year, they were absolutely fantastic live and so I checked their record out and yeah...really good band. A Place to Bury Strangers are also sweet, although they certainly do borrow A LOT of influence from The Jesus and MAry Chain's Psychocandy. But together that'll be a brilliant show.

yep Autechre is a good shout.

Chiastic Slide is a good start, but then so is Amber or LP5 or Tri-Repetae (sp?). Autechre is the ****ing bomb.

enemyat_thesix 02-28-2008 11:06 AM

i've been debating whether to see autechre on april 14. i have heard they are really great live, and would love to see them, but the tickets are $18

GravitySlips 02-28-2008 02:10 PM

Well I'm seeing them on Saturday, so I'll let ya know how that goes. I can't wait.

Strummer521 02-28-2008 07:38 PM

Doll Doll Doll by Venetian Snares is pretty dark. He samples the automated message from the number you could call if you had information about the murder of Jean Benet Ramsey.

Wait..what? This is a bad thing? I'd definitely pay 18 bucks to see Autechre live. Unfortunately, no one ever comes around near where I live (Kentucky). So 18 bucks turns into 50 bucks in gas, 50 bucks for hotel, food, etc....

jackhammer 03-02-2008 07:22 PM

Aphex Twin.

I agree... 18 bucks is cheap for Autechre. As for accommodation... you could try staying at an internet cafe for the night. From my experience, that is cheaper than any backpacker's lodge.

Dystopia 05-20-2008 11:50 AM

Infected Mushroom?
Hahaa, not really dark at all.
But they sort of have a strange vibe that some might find dark.

pheurton 05-20-2008 12:35 PM

INSANE CLOWN POSSE

pangy 05-20-2008 02:20 PM

Torture Device by Dawn of Ashes

GravitySlips 05-20-2008 02:52 PM
