Dub Remix

What exactly is a dub remix? I've seen it quite a few times, but I don't know what it means. Is it the genre dub or something else?

A dub remix usually consists of a track stripped of it's vocals and then reverb and echo are added to the track and yes it is it's own genre originally derived from Reggae. These days though a dub mix from outside of the Reggae genre is a little less delineated and can incorporate Electronica and loops/samples.

though the term gets tossed around now, like Crookers doing a "Dub" fix of Day N Nite, and it most certainly wasn't dub style

I usually just think of it as a version of a vocal song where most of the vocals have been taken out. an instrumental is when they take out all of them

indeed! :D although I did know it was derived from reggae. I was watching the reggae channel and it had little tidbits and it said originally dub was just reggae songs without vocals so that the crowds could sing along. that would be so fun
