Have any of you guys heard of Glitch Hop? It's almost like a subgenre of dubstep I would say, it's pretty sick ;3

Artists include Razihel and Mongoose

Glitch Hop's excellent. Razihel's pretty neat too. Haven't heard a whole many of his tracks, but I really dig his remix of Get Lucky (albeit not glitch hop). http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dojO8EjBR4s]

However, the subgenre goes a little further back than that. Some of the newer stuff definitely has some dubstep influence, a la Cryptex or KOAN Sound, but it came about exactly as its name suggests - artists spicing up hip hop beats with IDM-style glitch effects. As far as I'm aware, edIT's Crying Over Pros For No Reason was the first "hit glitch hop album." Prefuse 73 had some tracks ahead of him, but I have no idea what the early 2000s were like in glitch hop. Anywho, here're some edIT/prefuse tracks!

What style of music is this? I like this. Heard it on radio on a set the other day, this is 5* imo. Bumping my head to this .

Sounds like Jungle/Tribal electronic music.

Love that track.

Also, I should go through the first posts and add in a few that were mentioned by people on the last few pages and clean it up a bit.

No, that's my first time hearing it.

Also the information in the OP was compiled by me yes but not written. I figured it would be nice to have all of that information in one place.

There is one or two sections that I got assistance with that were slightly written by me though.

Chameleon, you may want to add Breakbeat, as it's a common sub-genre of electronic music that's not to be confused with "Broken Beat". You'll find info on Wiki.

IDM may be another one to add.

Also, when you get more time, you may consider delving into the types and styles of these sub-genres and the notable characteristics of each.

:dj:

Breakbeat is just the evolution of IDM, right? Or, so I've been told...and, I agree.

With even more twists thrown in....as I said, an evolution.

Wat's the problem, luv?
