I posted a few other good ones in my journal, and will continue to. This pretty much foreshadows some of the chill shit I listen to.
|
I really enjoyed some of those tracks. Here's one of my favourites from over the years
|
Here's 3 of my favorites by some of the lesser celebrated trip hop artists.
This song embedded below, Speed of Light by Alphawezen is one of my favorites. Alphawezen is a German duo that consists of Asu Yalcindag (vocals, lyrics) and Ernst Wawra (music). Alphawezen has 3 albums and serveral vinyl 12" singles in international release, and their music has been collected on a few electronica anthologies. Alphawezen's most recent album is 2007's Comme Vous Voulez. Bitter:Sweet is composed of Shana Halligan, who provides vocals and lyrics and composes the songs, and Kiran Shahani, who produces and composes the songs. The are a Los Angeles based trip hop duo. Bitter:Sweet has released 3 albums since 2006 and has an EP entitled The Breakup set for release in the next month or so. Hungry Lucy is an Ohio based dark wave trip hop duo consisting of Christa Belle (lyrics, vocals, music) and War-N Harrison (music, programming and production). Hungry Lucy has release four albums, the lastest of which is the 2010 release Pulse of the Earth. |
Gavin, thankyou, I enjoyed Speed of Light and the Hungry Lucy song.
Here is another filthy song I like to grüv to. |
Khoiba is a Romainian trip hop group. I can't tell you much about the band except they have a rabid following of fans in Eastern Europe capitols like Prague, Warsaw and Bucharest. Pathetic is from Khoiba's most recent album.
Little Dragon hails from Sweden and singer Yukimi Nagano was born in Tokyo but is now a Swedish citizen. Last year's Machine Dreams was blend of acid jazz, trip house and house music in the manner of Saint Etienne. Machine Dreams made a few 2009 "best of" electonica lists. Below is the Aareon Jerome remix of Little Dragon's Twice. The magical realism themes of Abney Park's music has earned the them a measure of noteriety as one of the earliest bands in the steampunk subgenre of electronica. Sleep Isabella was marketed as trip hop but a lot of Abney Park's music reminds me of the ethnic oriented global fusion music of bands like Dead Can Dance, Boiled in Lead and Mouth Music who made a small splash on the alternative music scene in late 80s/early 90s. |
Good call on Khoiba. I was just listening to them last week. Etro Anime. Anja Garbarek and Esthero have been on my listened to list the past couple of months.
|
How about Piana, Grouper or for example Perro Del Mar

All of those groups write songs with wild deviations in tempo. Like Bjork & Sigur Ros the vocalists in those Northern European electronic groups often sing using the pentatonic scales often associated with Middle and Far Eastern singers, Native American, Laplander and other native tribes with Eastern origins. |
usually I look this blog to see new chill out music album: chilloungemusic.blogspot.com
