Maybe it's Joel's Eye of the Tiger and it gets him in the zone for the rest of the set?

Strobe always gets forgotten, probably because it's at the end and has a bit of an uber intro.

FETCHER. 03-09-2010 01:57 PM

Strobe would be an alright intro, it starts lovely, well the version i have anyway. Maybe it could be his eye of the tiger, that would be amazing  maybe it just gets his head into that mood, cos i know myself certain songs do that for me :D

I've been getting more into Deadmau5 (said just like Deadmouse) I don't have much stuff from him. But I find most of his songs on compilation albums. Anyways His latest stuff is the album "For Lack of a Better Name". I really like it. Any fans? Thoughts?

Literally just discovered them, they are incredible. kayleigh your taste is exceptional.

I have had this song on repeat for like a month, especially as it has Rob from Pendulum /drools

oh yes, i have that, I have most of the remixes haha. I shall send you them sometime on the msn :) I have loadsa deadmau5 stuff :D.

CanwllCorfe 04-05-2010 02:39 PM

I enjoy stuff like Moar Ghosts n' Whatever (the really energetic stuff). His tracks like Word Problems are kinda boring. Then again no artist ALWAYS produces peak hour stuff or else it'd get old.

FETCHER. 04-05-2010 02:43 PM

I think "sometimes things get, whatever" is extremely annoying. well the lyrics piss me off so much, theyre boring and robotic, but the song in itself would be good if it didnt have those ****e lyrics.

scytix 04-19-2010 09:02 AM

I love FML and Not Exactly!
I was introduced to Deadmau5 around 3 years ago by my sister.. and now I guess he is uber famous and everyone knows him. Since he even guest starred in Gossip Girl. lol.

I have a feeling this guy is going to help make electro-house music mainstream in the United States in the 2010s, if that happened, mainstream music will finally be good again. One could only hope.

Amen... :D

Joking. But he has made some of his songs pretty big here, I'm not sure I want it to become mainstream, then it becomes overplayed which is why I don't listen to mainstream music :( but it would be nice for someone to recognise good music! :D

James 04-19-2010 09:52 AM

Yeah he already is pretty mainstream in britain even becoming the mascot of the clothes shop USC.

If this were to supplant mainstream rap in the U.S. it would be a miracle. I'd sure as hell would still listen to it if it became mainstream, and if it gotten too overplayed, I'd just simply to something else for a while, or just listen to the radio every and then so I don't hear it too often.

A very valid point. But I'm happy with the way the music industry is, it means I have more of a challenge finding new music and I like being the one nobody lets pick the cd :D

I bet you probably get "let's listen to some real music already!" alot from some of your friends, eh? =P

FETCHER. 04-19-2010 10:39 AM

All the time haha, or "What's this ****e now?" :(

IWP 04-19-2010 10:42 AM

Yeah until I joined the rave scene, I had pretty much no friends who were electronic dance. Most of them either listen to rock/metal, industrial or rap, typical. I'd get **** like that all of the time from my friends whenever I put on a "techno" song at a house party.

FETCHER. 04-19-2010 10:46 AM

I was in the pub once and it was a jukebox music system. So i searched justice and deadmau5, and they came on and my friend said "look what you've done, you've killed the place" made me sad :(:(

IWP 04-19-2010 10:47 AM

Man that's just a load of bull**** for someone to say that.

konnerbelly 04-27-2010 11:32 PM

deadmau5 makes awesome music..he did a pretty sweet remix of that calvin harris tune recently, but then, the original is just a pretty sweet tune; the chord progression gives me a chris matthews-like tingle..

Scarlett O'Hara 04-28-2010 10:57 PM

This is my favourite song right now:

FETCHER. 04-29-2010 12:41 PM

I've just been getting into Deadmau5...I've always been a bit slow with this scene. I'm liking what I'm hearing, though.

Deadmau5

He's a crazy bastard that mau5.

I've seen him twice live, he sucks, and i met him in person at club Muzique in Montreal. Here's a pic of me and him (hopefully this worked)

Joel is a producer, not a DJ. He's got some really bumpin' **** though, and very diverse style. He also knows how to market himself very well.

If you want to create your own deadmau5 shirt, go to wordans.com. You can find a bunch of awesome designs there of musicians and artists.

What's cool is you can create a custom t-shirt really easily, and sell your own online and make some money! If you're creative, funny and you want to make some easy money, I recommend checking it out.

Oh yea, here are my favorite deadmau5 tracks:

-hey baby (feat mellee fresh)
-catbread
-not exactly
-everything after
-reward is more cheese
-faxing berlin

-Wordans

FETCHER. 04-29-2010 02:42 PM

I'm jealous you've seen him twice live and met him. I'm resentful that you think he sucks. :)

Rawal 04-30-2010 11:55 PM

Initially, I despised the dude. Once I got into some proper stuff (courtesy of a real cool guy) I started to dig it. Strobe is a mad song.

Although, I don't really think Deadmau5 is as unique as a lot of people claim he is. No doubt about the fact that his non-conventional musical upbringing has a lot to do with the way he administers those touches on his songs. He doesn't quite think like your average electronic DJ/Producer.

Also, yeah, another point, I've seen some live clips of the guy. He's not bad, but like somebody else said, he's a producer before he's a DJ.

Oh and yeah, just joined the forums today. Been listening to electronic on and off for ages. Actively got into it since a couple of months. I listen to a lot of rock subgenres too. It's good exposing myself to all kinds of stuff as a musician. Electronic music really teaches you how to smoothen your tracks. =)

wickedlk 05-03-2010 07:35 AM

I actually thought deadmau5 was good when I saw him live back in '07. Absolutely cracking set which we all lapped up!

Oh...and...Yay!

FETCHER. 05-03-2010 08:47 AM

That sir, is love

IWP 05-03-2010 12:26 PM

I thought I should mention that this is a classic and very underrated song from the man! =D

CanwllCorfe 05-03-2010 07:28 PM

Has anyone seen what he looked like back in the day? Haha. I'm guessing he used to do a lot of raving. I still don't get much out of his productions. My friend Johnny praised him but once he downloaded everything and such he was able to get rid of 90% of it and only leave the stuff that sounded original.

So he used to be a kandi kid eh? =P

CanwllCorfe 05-03-2010 07:46 PM

Looks that way haha! I found them on some forum as a backlash against what he said about DJs

FETCHER. 07-09-2010 02:54 PM

serious? whats it called?

Exeggcute :3 07-09-2010 03:00 PM

I really can't get FML... MOst of Deadmau5's stuff makes sense (especially if you take it in the context of the albums) but FML just doesn't do anything for me at all. Can anyone help? :P

Also, some chords I awesome. I can sit at the piano and play it all day long, might get a little more interesting when I get some of my friends around to play other instruments as well!

nasa 07-14-2010 02:04 AM

i think afrojack is better than the mau5 now.... i dunno he sucked at EDC hard core.

FETCHER. 07-14-2010 02:50 PM

i lost my whole deadmau5 discography. someone please put me out of my misery :(

niccar113 07-14-2010 04:14 PM

he comes to DC a lot, always puts on amazing sets at the 930 club. listen to the dirty disco youth remix of 'ghosts n stuff.'

Exeggcute :3 07-14-2010 04:57 PM

It's not as good as the Nero remix :P

iangreer 07-19-2010 05:56 PM

Faxing Berlin is an incredible song. I was heading over the Seattle bridge with a couple friends at 2:30 in the morning, ****'s (Seattle burger joint like In & Out) burgers in our hands, and this song comes on through my ipod; my friend shifts his car up and we go flying across the bridge over the lake at 140 mph, with nothing but that song playing the whole time. It was so cool.

Exeggcute :3 12-01-2010 12:35 PM

4 x 4 = 12 coming out very soon. Some Chords, Sofi needs a ladder, Bad Selection... ^_________^

CanwllCorfe 12-01-2010 09:36 PM

I think I figured out what I don't like about his music: it's progressive, when it doesn't sound like it should be. Cthulu Sleeps is a good example. It builds, and builds, and builds.. into a break? At that point I've lost interest. He creates SO much energy in that huge buildup, and then it just disappears. I also don't think Dubstep songs should be 9 minutes long.

imaduck13 12-04-2010 03:18 PM

I like Deadmau5's textures and sounds a lot, but I can't stand the lack of change in his songs. They do the same thing for at least 6 minutes. I just can't stand songs that don't evolve or change. For the first minute or so, his songs are good, but he also puts so much time into buildups (as Canwll said) that I just lose interest.
