Lamb
 

Well I searched for a similar thread and although I made a comp of them in the past, it seems as if they have no dedicated thread.

To call Lamb a mere Trip Hop band is a disservice to a band that incorporate everything from chillout to Jazz to Drum N Bass to glitchy breakbeats to serene beauty.

Consisting of producer and main writer Andy Barlow and singer/songwriter Lou Rhodes. Lamb's music is a smorsgabord of beauty and the obtuse.

Whilst Massive Attack and Portishead quite rightly gained many plaudits for bringing Electronic music to the masses with a sound that is both commercial and experimental, Lamb were always in the background with their unique twist on producing leftfield sounds.

Not only did they make some of the best emotive Electronic music of the late 90's, they also made some of the more unique and recognisable sounds which was no mean feat considering the multitudes of Trip Hop bands prevalent at the time. Both the debut and Fear Of Fours still sound fresh today.


P.S Lou Rhodes vocals are Sex personified.

I've come across this name before on LastFM, but never actually heard a song of theirs or bothered to have a proper snoop around for any material of theirs. Sounds like I've been missing out on something pretty cool. Great songs you embedded in the OP as well. For some reason I was under the impression that they solely sounded like the kinda thing that Gabriel tune creates, so it came as a shock when I played the B-Line video right after that; quite a striking song, I must say - never really expected to hear something so skewiff (for want of a better phrase) from them.

Anyway, that's my shiny two pennies, I'll look for an album or two and get back to this thread with a few more thoughts...

I love them! Arms & Sleepers are kind of in the same boat. By that I mean they combine genres in a such a way that it's hard to find any other artist like them. You may enjoy them as well! They have a couple songs on YouTube.

Lamb's stuff brings back a lot of memories. Gorecki was the first song I'd heard outside of Trance and started getting interesting in all kinds of Electronic music. They were the gateway drug for me! Thank you Lamb

Dude, this looks sick. I'm getting some right away.

Lamb are one of my all-time favourite bands. I was gutted to miss their little summer reunion last year. There has been a few unconfirmed reports about the possibilty of some new material this year, but we'll just have to wait and see. I saw Lou Rhodes back on her first solo tour in 2006 and she was amazing. They're one of those bands i've played for friends, they've gone out and bought their stuff and ended up passing on to people they know.

I'm really digging "Between Darkness and Wonder" at the moment. Great, great album.:hphones:
