favorite electronic genres
which types of electronic music move you? looking to learn more about them.:hphones:
|
It all started with Trance. I was very finicky and only liked the epic, uplifting and euphoric material. I had a great amount of disdain for this new stuff called "Tech Trance" which combined Trance and Techno. It had no emotion, no beauty! Then eventually I came around and started to like it. Then shortly after that I found Progressive House.. and then Electro House.. and then Electro and so on and so on.
Today I enjoy pretty much any variant of Trance but that's not to say I enjoy every song of course, Progressive, Tech, Electro and Dutch House, Ambient, Electro, Noise, Hardstyle, Hardcore, Industrial, Gabber, and some Minimal if it's intriguing enough. |
- Drum & Bass (Techstep, Darkstep, Neurofunk, Liquid)
- Breaks (Progressive, Nuskool, Electro) - House (Progressive, Tech) - IDM (Breakcore, Drill N' Bass, idm, Glitch) - Ambient - Minimal - Electronica |
IDM (melodic, experimental, ambient)
Downtempo Instrumental hip-hop Breaks (nu-skool) Electro (not so much the party stuff, though it's cool on occasion) Drum & Bass (abstract, soulful) House (garage, soulful, jazzy, tech, disco, hard on occasion) Industrial dance (80s/early 90s stuff) Dubstep (most of it annoys me in that it all sounds the same, but some is great) |

Whenever you kids get the chance I highly suggest you to listen to the whole thing |

I'm getting into the Dubstep, and loving it. Also looked into noisecore, sounds pretty amazing.
|
IDM and amon-tobin style trip hop,
minimal techno and whatever boards of canada is, of course! |
-Old-school industrial. I'm particular in what I enjoy from here, but when I find something I think is good I'll probably love it.
-Post-industrial/modern industrial. -Electro-punk! (I have no clue if this is a proper genre, but frankly I don't care. :3)Jabberwock, Angelspit, possibly Crystal Castles? -Some IDM. |
Pretty much anything in the Chillout/Downtempo category.
I use to listen to quite a lot of Trance and Techno. Mostly from Japan though, because I find that they tend to have better melodies in those genres. |
Here's a complete list of every electronic genre I listen to.
House Acid House Electro House Deep House Funky House French House Trance Acid Trance Epic/Uplifiting/Anthem Trance Psytrance/Goa Synthpop New Wave Hi-NRG Disco Eurodance Eurobeat Techno Acid Techno Electro Electropop Freestyle Breaks Drum & Bass Jungle Happy Hardcore some EBM/Futurepop some Dubstep |
Acid house is win. Thats all I used to listen to.

My favorite will probably always by Goa/Psychedelic Trance. It needs to come back.

I'm quite interested in EBM. Since i don't have the right to post videos as an example i have to leave it for now.
|
Electropop from Japan. Perfume, MEG, and Tommy february6 are good places to begin.
Perfume don't make very good videos though, so if you're searching for them on YouTube, try to ignore the visuals and just listen to the songs. It's mostly stuff you can dance to. ^^ |
I'm really fond of Goa trance, dubstep, and lately, I've been liking a bit of glitch to go with my dubstep.
