Looking for 80's Instrumental Synt. Please help.

Yes. That's what I'm looking for... Especially some early 90's compilation cd's with 80's synth music whose names I do not remember. What I think I remember is that the cover and pamflet art was pictures taken in a dark room, and were of hands playing lazer synths if there is any such thing. Colors were black, red and green. Cd's was bought in Norway, so they might not have been released in the US. Not much to go on, but that's what I've got.

The only song I remember (I think) there being on one of these cd's is Jan Hammers Crockett's Theme. There might have been songs like Axel F, but I remember the music as being more "poetic" and "longing", if I can use words like that. Like Crockett's Theme. Depeche Mode's Enjoy the Silence has some of the wibe but that, of course, has vocals.

If any of you can help me by listing anything you think it might be, specific songs, artists or records, I would really apreciate it.

Thanks.

If I'm not wrong, the collection you're talking about was titled Synthesizer Greatest:

Unfortunately, it wasn't a compilation of original tunes but a group of covers expressly made for that cd series. They even included some instrumental versions from vocal songs such as OMD's Electricity.

However, you can look up the tracklists on the Internet and then to look for the original music.

I don't remember if they released some cd cover exactly like that, but, now you mention the hands and the synth, I've just thought of Vangelis:

I think Vangelis' music is an accurate example of what you are looking for. Jean Michel Jarre is another "big name" regarding 80's synth music.

Heh. I'd forgotten about this.

Thanks for the reply Zaqarbal. These were not the CD's I was looking for, but nice try :)
