I'm sorry to say it but this stuff doesn't really stand out for me in any way. It just sounds like typical house music from anywhere, I don't hear any special Romanian twist to it.

I agree.. it's all the same, it's not bad but it's .. the same.
and it's not house.. it's more like dance/electro.

I never said that it did, but it is music composed and performed by Romanians and it is becoming more and more popular every day, so hence you have Romanian House/Dance weather you want to call it. :hphones:

What aspects of it do you feel make it noteworthy?

The "huge statement" my avatar makes about me is that I'm a big fan of latin American poster design from the 1960s. This particular piece is from Mexico circa 1969.

Inna's video clips seem to focus more on her standing half naked rather than the actual music. Plus she is shocking live, just another house artist to me.

Those elements get annoying pretty fast not to mention the vocals. I'm not a fan of pop music. I could see females like this stuff

I am addicted to this kind of music, and it's too bad Black Marble peaced out, because I would have followed this thread to the bitter end. In any case, I can't even attempt to pick it back up. This song surfaced on the Turkish pop/dance/house radio station I listen to today. Not surprised to find its Akcent!



Totally trashy, but totally club ready. I'm down. The version I heard was definitely longer, though. Love the underlying manele beat.

Omg, it is so obvious. If you like club music, it is so easy to identify a Romanian-made track. I'm not an expert in the ways of what makes music fall into any genre or why one song is different from another, but you can just tell; there is always an electronic, Eastern European-sounding horn, accordion, dulcimer, or other folk instrument blended in with the main beat. Edward Maya kinda takes the cake on this one with the trendy accordion thing we heard so much in 2010-2011, but now it's commonplace. All of the house music Romanian is producing has it nowadays, and it's catchy and fun to dance to at clubs. Super popular in Greece, Turkey, Serbia, and other countries around the region. It is definitely a genre.

Other typical elements

-really, really stupid lyrics that often do not rhyme in real English
-terrible pronunciation
-a myriad of half-naked girls in every video
-avant garde style in terms of fashion and music
-dudes on boats
-generally overproduced, all the time and in every way

How did you get into Romanian stuff by the way?

I'm born in London so it would be kinda of hard, considering my friends liked rap etc.

It was 2012, I was 13 and was looking for new music, and found it romanian house music on a sports forum, i like the melodies and vocals to of the music, my favourite type of house music to, and pop I guess I will be a regular here lol
