Best Dubstep Songs, Artists, Albums?

This thread is for the EP's with the best drops, the songs with the crunchiest bass, the heaviest drums, and the people who make them. Personally, I'm partial to Skrillex and Burro Music. What do you think?

Speaking of Skrillex, his choon with the Doors kicked ass.

Seven Lions kicks out every other dubstep/etc/genre/EDM producer from the hot seat. He wins the genre.

Scarlett O'Hara 01-06-2013 01:38 AM

There is a thread you can find the best recommendations which a lot of people have found useful. You'll find that most dubstep fans on here can't stand brostep i.e. Skrillix. So check out my thread and you mind find you get some great DJs to check out.

No. You are practically monopolizing the entire prospect of someone posting about Dubstep.

Thread re-opened, and if you don't like it, you can suck my dick.

*This is my final proposition, because I would totally enjoy a BJ from you.

I just gave Skrillex a listen on Youtube. This will more than likely make me sound like an arsehole so sorry in advance but I can't believe stuff like that is considered Dubstep. Not in that it's either good or bad, but it is actually not Dubstep. It lacks the dub of it's Reggae influence and the step of garage influence.

If you want stuff like Skrillex check out Borgore I guess?

Borgore - Cry me a river - YouTube

My recommendation is 'Cheeze Loueeze EP' by Sukh Knight.

Sukh Knight - Hands In Your Pockets Feat Jahcoozi - YouTube

Here's a track from it, it's quite bassy but not to the point where it sounds stupid, imo. It's a quality EP anyway.

Check out the Dubstep Allstars CD's too.

I'm gonna look for my CD and upload it, it's a mix I've had since about '04/05, it has these tracks on it:

Cuthbert 01-06-2013 07:58 AM

Can't find that CD, I'll look properly soon. I found my CD of Cheeze Loueez EP if anyone wants the link PM me, I uploaded it. I'm guessing it's against board rules to post the link.

Diary of an Afro Warrior - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Forgot that too ^

Here are a couple tracks:

Benga - Pleasure (Dubstep) - YouTube

Benga - Evolution - YouTube

That is very, very good and essential listening if you're a Dubstep fan and haven't heard it. The Dubplate Drama soundtrack (first one) will be worth a listen too.

EDIT - Oh and give Rinse FM a listen as well if you can mate, here's a podcast:

Rinse FTW.

Check out this compilation of Mt Eden remixes. This is the place where I run away from reality.

Well I don't agree with that, it's basically the same thread except mine has more content. But I'll ya'll be amused by keeping it open.

When and where? :p:

Do any of you listen to anything that's not ***core like Skrillex?

Oxidizer 01-07-2013 08:42 AM

I am not a big dubstep fan, but there are definitely songs and remixes in this genre which get me going. Usually they contain also some DnB.

Burro Music.

Vault962 01-16-2013 12:22 PM

I think dubstep is one of the most overrated and overused genres of the last decade, with many artists using it to create unoriginal and uninspired music. I nonetheless think that if an artist uses it (dubstep) to do their own thing, then it might actually turn into something original. My personal favourites would be Pendulum, Celldweller and Blackmill.

Scarlett O'Hara 01-16-2013 12:31 PM

Have you checked out some of the recommendations in my thread? I think you might surprise yourself if you open your ears. People hear one thing they don't like about a genre and suddenly the entire genre is terrible?

It sounds like you're addressing it the wrong way. Dubstep isn't really a tool that an artist might "use," as much as it is just another genre that an artist may make music that it sounds like. For example, Pendulum and Celldweller don't make dubstep, but some of the roots of their music are similar roots for much of dubstep. Calling it overrated is fair, but it doesn't sound like you've listened to it enough to make an umbrella statement that all of it is uninspired.

What kinds of things do you like about Pendulum or Blackmill?

IsotopeBill 03-05-2013 05:45 AM

I'm such a keen fan of the Please Mr Postman Dubstep remix by Cragga (sadly can't post it due to my being under the 15 post limit). It's got a very wide and entertaining bassline that moves around a lot, plus the voice just inspires joy, I think it's very well put together.

Someone mentioned Mt. Eden, he's got some great tracks. Sierra Leone was one that was instrumental in turning me to Dubstep.

I'm also a Bar 9 fan, Strung Out is a playlist favourite and so is Murda Sound.

Scarlett O'Hara 03-05-2013 06:12 AM

Mt Eden Dubstep is great eh! It makes me proud to be a Kiwi.

ThePhanastasio 03-07-2013 09:10 PM

This is the best newer track I've heard in a little while. After you've listened to so much dubstep, you think you've heard it all...but this drop is just vile.

I really like Rekoil in general, and goddamn this track.

Boomslang 03-18-2013 11:52 AM

I've really gotten into Eptic and Habstrakt recently, they did a colab called Ninja Challenge if anyone wants to look it up.

Billionaireboyglynne 03-19-2013 12:24 PM

Dubstep remixes

I'm looking for something similar to utrecht, those sort of remixes! Anyone know of some good chooons similar?

ThePhanastasio 03-21-2013 01:07 AM

I'm disappointed that no one seemed to have listened to my previous post. Frown. It was something a little different from what I'm accustomed to in the genre, and thought it was kind of interesting.

VocalandDrumGeorge 03-21-2013 06:22 AM

This is the level that needs to be attained.

Digital Mystikz - Essential Mix - YouTube

Ry Legit - Brogasm Mixtape - YouTube

Sonny Moore i just can't stand him, would much prefer if he went back to From First To Last rather than continuing with his Skrillex phase...

Absolutely, a lot of these are from 04-05? Recognise most of these beats. The track that drops at 2:20 is very, very good, need more of this stuff, that mix is ridiculous.

You know where I can get a t/l for this?

Vocal for the track at 14:00

Meeqs 03-24-2013 10:33 AM

My favorite producers would have to be Ry Legit, xKore, Dubba Jonny, Cragga, Mt. Eden, Xilent and Virtual Riot.

My all-time favorite however would be: MitiS. If you listen to a few of his songs, such as Give My Regards, you'll know why.

Khrompot 03-25-2013 03:54 AM

Skrillex isn't Dubstep its commercial dance music for kids at a dubstep tempo.

Dubstep is (OK, was) underground

Durrty Goodz - Take Back The Scene - YouTube

I'm unsure of where to get a track listing for it, I've been looking myself.. Can't seem to find anything.

Yoooo Durrty Goodz kills it, that tune is tooooo good.

Zebras 03-25-2013 08:53 AM

Food for thought - why do you guys think dubstep&etc is so polarizing? Is there something specific about the genre that makes it a bit more controversial than a similar case in other decades when a genre has forced its way into pop chart territory?

Norg 03-26-2013 12:53 AM

WHo knows Dubstep has the Bass Snare Backbone and if u don't like Bass/Snare Kick Combo in music well damm u just need to get your ears fixed :P

What do u mean by polarizing? I think Dubstep is more controversial because it sounds like nothing ever herd before in the mainstream realm I like to look at it as like the futuristic heavy metal of its time

The thing is tho Skrillex brought more attention to Dubstep then any other artist in the genre, definetly brought it mainstream

Noisia - Split the Atom is a dope CD

905SteelCity 04-03-2013 03:39 PM

this song is really grimey
Evil Dead Dubstep - YouTube

Joey Music 04-17-2013 03:15 PM

Not to Dubstep he didn't, maybe the use of the term "Dubstep" but not the music itself. I know people who listen to Skrillex and consider themselves to be Dubstep fans but wouldn't be able to tell you who Benga is or what the Big Apple Records shop was.

Skrillex fans are Skrillex fans, not really fans of Dubstep, in my opinion.

There's a similar thing with JME and Grime music.

terreror 07-31-2013 06:03 AM

The first song out of Benga's new album is a killer,it's called "Yellow".Sounds like GrandMaster Flash's The Message, but in a modern way.

Virtual Riot is my favorite producer + he's underrated af.

If you're looking for a sick ass drop, check out Blackout by him (Virtual Riot). It's not my favorite by him considering I love literally all of his songs. If you check out his SoundCloud he has a preview of all the songs on his new mix that'll be released on the 20th. Also, he has the best EDM Mashup on his SoundCloud/Youtube as well.

I'll also mention Ry Legit and xKore although I don't listen to them anymore :/
