Is this where to post about binaural beats/isochronic tones?

Does anyone else listen to this for migraines, etc?

I've taken part in a few personal experiments with binaural beats, mostly with iDoser I dimly recall it being called, but found them to be worthless. However, that could be down to the fact I could not be bothered to actually find the coin for the program and rather pirated it, so it is quite possible that may have affected it's effectiveness. I would much rather partake in the substances their product aims to imitate. Do you find that it works for you, ChelseaDagger?

I've dabbled and found them mostly ineffective and usually end up switching to something with a darbouka (lol!) when I'm in such a mood, but recently I found one on YouTube that actually alleviated a migraine I was having. Granted, I listened in conjunction with a glass of Pinot Grigio but alcohol alone has never been able to nip a migraine and I am unfortunately without any other vices (at least of the substance variety).

Also my daughter with Sensory processing challenges who practically can't tell a lie, told me how much she liked it. Husband said it sounded like static but he also can't recognize a Stones song when it bites him in the ears... Of course perhaps he vibrates on a different frequency than I do which might explain his fondness of the song "shebub shebub" or whatever it's called...

Sigh... Would really like to experiment more as I love researching musical frequencies as interpreted and absorbed by the human body

ha! maybe I should have tried the same in regards to the Pinot, although I tend to favor less poisonous things. It would undoubtedly have enhanced the experience. I have read that most people partake in smoking marijuana before they engage in binaural bumbling and consequently their "trip reports" seem a lot more eventful than anything I've ever experience in my own trials. That could possibly increase the placebo effect, which would explain many things.

A lot of what I've been able to find suggests that they are basically a placebo, but I'm not terribly informed on the subject.

That's what it sounds like to me. If anything, the quasi panning effect of binaural beats would give me even more of a migraine.

Yeah my husband hates them lol. I think a lot of it has to do with specific Hertz and I've read that a lot of the therapeutic benefit can get jumbled and lost in most devices. I usually listen on my iPhone so that may have something to do with it too.

As far as the placebo effect is concerned... I'm a pretty cynical person by nurture, however, if you've ever experienced a migraine brought on by changes in atmospheric pressure.... You wouldn't care! Whatever works ;)

Please don't use cynical to describe skeptical.

That's true. I'm not nearly pretentious enough to pull off something like Cynical.

I have not listened to this for migraines, but I find this kind of music very helpful for sleeping.

Incidentally, if it is a placebo effect, so what? Your mind is a powerful tool!
