Kraftwerk, in my opinion are completely lacking in any sort of funk or soul BUT that I suppose was the point. I have Man Machine, Computer World and I like Autobahn and Radioactivity. I don't listen to them often, but there is no denying their influence, especially on Detroit. If it wasn't for Chicago and Detroit we wouldn't have much to listen to today.
Yes, the music has developed much much more in Europe where it really took off, but the melding of technology and funk came from the States.

I've always thought The Man Machine is their most accessible, get that.

Minimum Maximum's good for a beginner too. One of my favourite official live albums that.

Might just give it a spin in a bit as well.

I'm more keen on Schaufensterpuppen than any of their other songs. Also, why is it that no one's said TEE is accessible? It's the first album of theirs I listened to, and it is very "listenable" (so to speak).

I realize this is a Kraftwerk thread, but let me just say CAN were great contemporaries.

Kraftwerk's influence in music is amazing.

They influenced countless black metal bands, particularly Scandinavian. They were a major influence on Darkthrone, Beherit, and Burzum, to such an extent that members of all these groups went on to create their own electronica.

I think it'd be rather fun to sit them down, play Burzums first album, and, poking them in the chest, proclaim "Ya know you're a huge influence on this convicted murderer?"
