Post-Industrial / UK Bass / Glitch [And all the other words]

The best genre.

Frownland 06-13-2018 09:24 AM

Post industrial is pretty removed from the other two imo, but only because it's so ambiguous. Top genres indeed. Almost made a UK Bass thread myself.

Agree about Post-Industrial, but it's close enough to be included. I was going to add "Glitch-Hop" too but it's not worth getting too bogged down in tags.

Also I just listened to that album and was the reason why I bothered making the thread.

Lucem Ferre 06-14-2018 03:21 AM

Seems like a less boring and more creative version of what my goth friends listen to. Not that I hate aggrotech, but it's just so damn redundant and repetitive and uninspired sometimes. Like recreating the same song over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over.

Amnesia Scanner's first EP Angels Rig Hook completely blew my mind when it came out in 2015. Loved that kind of robotic beatnik future-noir radioplay vibe that EP had. Haven't kept up with them on anything since, but I guess I will catch up sooner or later, but it doesn't seem to be as good...
If anyone have any recommendations of anything similar to Angels Rig Hook, It'd be great!

Surprised not to have seen any mention of Sd Laika yet. Recently listened to That's Harakiri, stuff bangs like mad.

As a sidenote, I'm genuinely interested in finding out where the whole "post-/decon- club/bass" sound came from. A lot of people point to what was happening on Night Slugs as a prototype, but as much as I like it, a lot of it sounds separated from the Arca/Lotic/NON Worldwide-type stuff - less industrial and glitch and more UK funky and dubstep and juke.

Frownland 09-26-2019 03:16 PM

This is incredible bubblegum bass. New album out tomorrow as well

New Gloo album is AOTY material

Frownland 09-26-2019 08:00 PM

I enjoyed my first listen but I haven't really felt compelled to return to it. It sort of feels like they're all trying to fight for a lead voice on the project instead of working off of each other's strengths to build something greater. Or maybe they just have similar strengths, idk.

As far as stuff that would fall under this thread goes, 1000 Gecs is far and away my AOTY. Overall it's top 3 or top 5 material.

OccultHawk 09-26-2019 08:06 PM

I got it overall at 6th so far

I've yet to snag one of these ****ed up cassettes, but I love this label. I'm speculating that it's SAWF and fellow Greek producers based on what a collaborator of his told me (I could be very wrong tho). The fact that every release is copied on a recycled cassette and not stated if it's a **** you to collectors, or if it's a distortion and decay = abstraction kind of deal. Either way, I don't want to know, that would take the fun away.

HOMVA (label's bandcamp)

Here's a quote from one of the release pages.

"Tape has been used before.
Cassette brand is not the same as the case.
Original content is a DJ mix from an Athens club (Αυτοκίνηση) in 1982, probably from Nicola Lavacca.
HOMVA content was not overwritten due to speculation that original content may be valuable."
