Outsider House

A decidedly lo-fi approach at house music

Oh great, another sub-genre of house music that doesn't make me want to dance. This stuff is better fit to sleep to than to throw a party with.

I get ya man. In all honesty, the stuff you posted aint bad per se. But when I'm reaching for house music, this aint it. This is the kind of stuff I might cycle through in a playlist that includes Boards of Canada and perhaps Underworld. Stuff that is interesting enough to serve as nice background music to tasks that demand more of my attention.

If I want something like 'lo-fi' house, I'd prefer to stick with old school stuff - or even serviceable remakes/reimaginings of old classics like this one:

I vibe with bassline for sure. Never heard that song before, it's tight as hell my friend. Hit me up with some more stuff like this if you've got the goods.

When it comes to house music, I'm fairly well versed in the old school stuff - and also in the more poppy mainstream stuff that passes as "deep house" to normies along with future house, G-house, and bass house. Stuff like this gets my rocks off.

Also - do you have any favorite mixes? That's the optimal way I like to experience house music. If you've got some favorites - hit me up, either here or in DM if you prefer. I started a thread for these guys, but I'll plug 'em again here since I think this mix personifies a lot of what I love about house music. I personally DJ in my own free time - if you want to hear any of my mixes, hit me up.

Those aren't bad. To keep me interested for 6 or 7 minutes, though, (if you're not gonna do Brian Eno-like exploring/experimentation) there needs to be a hook of some kind - which is why remixes are among my favorites -

the future prince (luca cazal & james what edit)

Prince's Batman album sucks. Sorry, but it's just sub-par Prince in my book. But the original version of the future is a standout. This lo-fi remix is (imo) an improvement.
