summer/winter

i searched if this has been done before, couldnt find anything.

i myself, hate summer, as bill hicks said "we're warm blooded mammals, we don't belong in the heat, you lizard scum". it makes everyone, hot, bothered, tired, sweaty, and stinky.

but with winter, put a jumper on and you're set.

to all summer lovers, tell me reasons why you like hot weather,
to all winter lovers, do the same.

i was just interested into what people will say.

babakeatwix 01-27-2006 07:04 AM

I myself indulge in winter. Summer blows because it gets so unbearably hot in ATL. I mean so hot you can't do anything w/o breaking a sweat some days.

ShOwTiM3 01-27-2006 09:09 AM

I don't like winter at all... I think that I love summer more than winter by very far.

First of all, I always have the feeling that everyone are less stressed on summer. I also like to make sports in summer and I hate cold temperature. (Canada is a good place for cold temperature :P) Finally... it's not very funny to drive a car when there is 2 feet of snow or ice everywhere.

babakeatwix 01-28-2006 12:57 PM

Well when winter hits ATL there isn't any snow or ice. So I guess thats one of the reasons I like winter.

Summer is actually good for you, something scientific about artificial light and less Vitamin B12 production from natural sunlight.
The clear blue sky and warm weather does cheer me up.
It doesn't mean that winter isn't as beautiful though.

blackTshirt 01-28-2006 01:04 PM

well here's the thing
where i live, it gets too hot during summer and too cold during winter
like there were minus 20 grades celsius this week

so the truth is i prefer springs and autumns.. i like it when it's sunny and chilly, with cute clouds on the sky and the city is nicely colored
i like the rain.. the only thing that makes me love winter is snow and snow is beautiful.. summer is just.. plain..

ArtistInTheAmbulance 01-28-2006 01:05 PM

Winter is a gazillion times better. You can just snuggle up with everyone and have hot chocolate and hot water bottles and SNOW outside... ah, tis loverly.

Whereas in summer, you just sit and swelter, and it gets all humid and nasty. Then you get sunburn and look like Rudolf. Not nice.

Shooting Star 01-28-2006 01:15 PM

I dislike summer. I always get really hayfevery, with itchy eyes and constant sneezing. Winter I enjoy because the snow is pretty and I'm generally in a better mood, and feel less pressure, and it's got Christmas.

explosions-in-my-pants 01-28-2006 02:50 PM

i don't like the summer at all.. i mean its alright when its that perfect temp just below hot, and just above cold.. when its nice and cool.. so bascially i do love spring and fall.. but i like winter, cause newfoundland has ****ty seasons.. its like god gets confused around us and is all like well this year spring will be winter and summer will be so hot, fall will spring and winter won't exsit i dunno.. its ****ed.. anyways but winter here in a normal year not this year clearly.. (lack of snow) it good its not to cold and its not warm at all.. i like it.. :)

Summer all the way. Winter is nice...But summer offers more.

1. Less cloths.
2. No school.
3. Late nights
4. Waking up at noon.
5. Swimming
6. Getting dark at 9 pm.

Merkaba 01-28-2006 03:18 PM

Summer.

The beach is amazing. I love the sun, sea, sand and eye candy...not that I stare or anything. And the nights are more tropical and and and you can do more outdoorsy things and the nightlife perks up tenfold and if it's doing a good job, Summer is a party pill in itself.

Yet all that happens during winter is people get cold and depressed and binge on retail therapy. We don't get snow:(

So I say bring on summer.

Mama Booze 01-28-2006 03:19 PM

I don't know if any of you have been to a New Jersey vacation spot in the summer...but it's like a party that never stops there in the summer...it's flippin awesome :]

Some people need to keep their cloths on. I personally like winter, because I don't get sick as much...damn sinuses. I get sick and bored and burned and hot in summer.

Mama Booze 01-28-2006 04:43 PM

Yea, you're right about that...Fat people is skimpy cloths.....yeesh.

But otherwise, less cloths is good.

Yeah, the seasons are really crazy here in Newfoundland. This past january we've had very warm days (outside in a t-shirt weather), we've had freezing cold that any part not covered by coat becomes dead and falls off, light snows, blizzards, and spring rain.

i agree
i myself am island folk, i love summer, my island comes alive during the summer, and i go swimming almost every day. but it's not just swimming, there's thousands of tourists, the night life, and there's this special feeling in the air at night, sort of like you see in the old black and white movies, the feeling of the tropics in the summer night, the crickets, the sounds of people in the distance......

winter.....i dislike, everything goes dead, the wind starts blowing, noone is out in the streets, if you walk out after 6 in the evening, you feel like you're alone in the world, and the gloomy weather.....the only thing about winter i like is christmas......and we also don't get snow....although, i don't much like snow....too cold...but i would like to have a white christmas...for once....just because i like the way my village looks like all covered in white....it's been some 7-8 years since the last time snow fell.....

holdyoualways 01-28-2006 05:49 PM

i freaking hate winter. mostly because i live in pa & we get freezing cold temperatures & snow & wind & all that good stuff in the winter, which i hate. im just always cold for some reason so having 40 degrees & below temperatures just puts manda in a pissy mood.

so i like summer better. i just like the hot weather, its more comfortable for me. i always take super hot showers in the morning-even to the point of passing out from my blood pressure going up. plus the fact that theres no school in the summer, which is always a plus. so yeah id have to say summer.

jibber 01-28-2006 05:57 PM

I love winter, and I'm gonna skip a long rant about how much I love skiing, and get to other parts I love about winter. Everything always looks so pretty after a frost or snowfall, and I just love cold weather, not sure why.

however, now that I've found fun sports that I actually enjoy in the summer (cliff jumping, kayaking etc), I like summer a whole lot more. I love swimming (lakes, not pools), and I have to admit it's nice to be able to lounge around in your bathing suit for months at a time.

and merkeba, you get snow in new zealand, well maybe not where you are. where are you exactly?

either/or 01-28-2006 06:14 PM

winter. why? cause where i live winter is not really actually cold, its more of a pleasant temp, whereas summer is ****ing hot.

Oh I know we get snow, but yeah I meant where I live. There aren't too many years where our skifields miss out on a big dumping. I live on the East Coast of the South Island, in a city called Christchurch. If you look on a map it's about half way down, just above the Peninsula that sticks out. I'm right along the coastline so you can imagine why I love summers and the beach.

I know where you're going is a pretty scenic place that usually always does well in the ski seasons. In general the West Coast of the South Island has worthwhile winters but yeah, apart from the bottom half of the South Island, the upper half of the East Coast usually misses out.

Scarlett O'Hara 01-28-2006 08:53 PM

I love the sun, I am more happier in the summertime. The cold dark winters make me feel not as alive, and it can be a real effort keeping warm (I don't exactly have alot of meat or fur on me).

Summer = fun. You can wear light clothes, feel and look good, skin is healthier, you eat better and fresh foods....

yeah, from what i've heard, the ski fields get good dumps (except for last season, that was bad) and the rest of the country is pretty mild. It'll definitely be a big change for me, even though it'll be winter there when I go, it'll probably feel like summer for the most part seeing as how I'm used to winters that are a HELL of a lot colder.
