ok, I'm old, too- but I went to hardcore shows as a teen...i see emo as this:
it come from hardcore punk~it was the more "emotional sounding" punk-ok, make sense?...then....the generation about ten years younger than us caught on to hopw great some of these bands were....and ruined it~haha! I'll get sh*t for that...
it become more about wailing about you whiny life...wah wah wah my girlfriend broke up with me..actually some of it I like, it's very heartfelt and the rawer the better but it has become very polished...and their fans are pictured in the photos posted above.
