Let's be honest: if you are going for bands that are worse than Nickelback, then there's a whole range of them. There must be hundreds of gruff, angry garage metal bands who really try and copy the mainstream metal scene.
The reason Nickelback gets so much attention is the fact that they write pop-rock songs with [intended] universal appeal.
Let's be honest, if they didn't have the straining voice of Chad Kroeger for vocals, they'd be much better.

Hey good to see you back on the threads, even if its a shittty Nickelback thread;)

Nah. They'd still be generic and uninspired. Besides, I've heard Nickelback with different vocals. They're called Three Doors Down.

I'm not objecting to that! I'm not into that kind of music and I'm not attempting to persuade anyone that it merits any credibility for artistry or creativity. "Photograph" is one of those problems: it really just sounds like another attempt to convince everyone that the song is "just for them", when in fact is designed to appeal to everyone's memories and reminiscences.
I just think perhaps one of the main reasons for their unpopularity is the awful voice of Chad Kroeger. It attracts a lot more scorn than is deserved for such average rock.

Thanks, good to be back!
I think I'm wasting too much of my attention on these morons.

My only reason for not liking Nickelback is because of Chad's attitude. My friends have had some distasteful encounters with him.

True Story #1:

Buddy of mine went to a private event with his girlfriend, and Nickelback were one of the bands there (mind you, this is long before they got famous). Basically, Chad kept hitting on my buddy's girlfriend, and she thinks he was being a major pig.

True Story #2:

My friend of mine was in the same elevator as him, and she was still a teenager at the time. She kindly asked Chad if she could have his autograph. She didn't have a paper, but she asked if he could sign her shoe. Instead of kindly saying no, Chad responded by saying "Eeeewwwww!!!! NO!!! I don't wanna sign your shoe, that's gross!!!"

True Story #3:

My friend's little sister was still a kid at the time, and she saw Chad at the grocery store. She kindly went up to Chad and asked if she could have his autograph. He rudely responded by saying "Pffft!!!! NO!!!!" Personally, I would never give that kind of attitude to a young kid like that. To me, that's just not cool.

True Story #4:

This got on the news actually. Chad was hanging out at this nightclub in his current hometown which is Vancouver (in Canada). Chad basically got drunk, got into a fight with someone at the bar area, then the fight carried out onto the streets. Police came and arrested Chad.

Just seeing this kind of behaviour really sets a bad example to fans in my personal opinion. His older works were definitely a lot better, but after seeing him having a bad attitude and his music lacking substance (again, just personal preference), I started to lose respect for him.

Personally I couldn't care less about an artist's attitude, I'm only interested in how they sound.........just sayin you know.

If you think that's bad for a singer's behaviour, then consequently Lemmy from Motorhead must be a very bad rock star in your opinion.
And Lemmy is in my opinion the most awesome man alive.

saw Motorhead in a small club. There were signs everywhere that said it was a no smoking zone. He comes on and proceeds to smoke a pack of malboros through his set. It was so ****ing funny

I could, considering I own all their albums..and Limp Bizkit's, and Nickelback's, and Godsmack's. Damn...I got a sh*tty taste in music.

Sometimes I feel like locking this thread just for the filthiness of it.
