I honestly do not understand why people who claim religion is a crock of shit still hang onto traditional views of an afterlife. I guess it all stems from our irrational fears of death.

I imagine my afterlife will be something like my prelife -- that is, nonbeing. Nothing for me to worry about.

I think this thread is more about the idea of someone's personal hell rather than anything to do with an afterlife.

Which is why I initially chose a comical rather than a serious response.

In fact the whole "lake of fire" imagery lends somewhat of a comical interpretation of itself. What the hell (no pun intended) would you worry about fire for anyways, once you're dead? Oh and...

for me, hell would be spending the rest of eternity hanging out with a bunch of christians in a magical land ruled over by an omniscient, omnipotent dictator who tends towards mass murder when things don't go his way.
